More About Coach Sami

I have a lot of experience doing mostly freelance/private coaching work. I have coached youth, men's high school and women's professional. I have helped coach QB's for Women's National Tackle Football Team. I typically work with ages 10-17. I have 14 years of experience including 6 years playing with boys, being coached by former NFL and College players, and 8 years of Women's Professional experience.

Recently retired from playing professional women’s tackle football for the Chicago Force and Team USA. I am the first female in the state of California to play the quarterback position in a varsity Division I football game and the first female to throw a touchdown pass in a world championship tournament. On October 2, 2015, I was inducted into the Redlands High School Athletic Hall of Fame in Redlands, California, joining past inductee Brian Billick (Super Bowl Champion Coach for Baltimore Ravens).

Besides playing football since age ten, I played baseball for nine years and became the first girl in my community to make a boy’s baseball All-Star team. I went on to play quarterback with the boys at Redlands High School. RHS was a Division I Public High School in California. In 2007, while studying at Roosevelt University in Chicago, I joined the Chicago Force. My stats in my position exceeded most NFL quarterbacks, accomplishing a passing rating of 131.3, throwing for 4301 yards and 57 touchdowns. I received honors as Offensive Player of the Year in (2007, 2011), team MVP (2012, 2013), team captain (2008, 2009, 2010) IWFL All-Star selection (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) and WFA All-America honors (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014). I was a part of history playing in the first women’s national championship on an NFL field (Heinz Field in Pittsburgh). I helped the United States capture the gold medal at the 2010 IFAF Women’s World Championship championships in Stockholm, Sweden, along with the 2013 IFAF Women’s Worlds in Vantaa, Finland. I was awarded the World Championship Tournament MVP in the 2013.

During my time with the Chicago Force we cruised to a convincing 81-34 win over the Dallas Diamonds to win the first Force national championship, avenging two previous championship game losses. Me (playing QB) and my teammate Jessica Javelet were named the co-MVPs of the National Championship game as I threw for 526 yards and 8 touchdowns, while Javelet had three runs for 25 yards, 11 receptions for 225 yards, and four touchdowns. In 2013, I threw for 4301 yards and 57 touchdowns in the 2013 combined regular and post season (the Chicago Force’s perfect season). In the National Championship game alone, I threw for 526 yards and 8 touchdowns.

As QB I earned the World Championship MVP title and was named to the World All-Star Team as Quarterback for Team USA during the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Women’s World Championship for tackle football in Finland on July 6, 2013. Me and the US women’s team took the World Championship tournament by storm with record-setting defeats of Sweden (84-0) and Germany (107-7) in pool play, followed by a 64-0 thrashing of Canada in the gold medal game. My three-game tournament total was 626 passing yards, nine touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown earning me the World Championship MVP title. 2013 was my second consecutive appearance in the World Championship as the Team USA Quarterback. In 2010, I threw the first touch down ever in a women’s international tackle football competition.

I first do a mechanic assessment by asking the athlete to show me how they drop, take a snap, throw and handoff. I create a plan from there. I put a lot of focus on footwork, throwing mechanics, drop rhythm, handoff technique, quick release and defense reading. I believe it is important for a coach to grow with the game. I have created drills that help with defensive recognition in regards to perimeter screens, backside 5 reads for the run game, and pre-snap reads to help with quicker decision making.

Client Reviews

As a person, player, teammate, and coach Sami Grisafe elevates everyone around her. I am honored to say that I have represented the United Staes with her twice, and with her as our QB, we brought home two Gold Medals. Not only have I played with Sami, but I have also played against her multiple times, with two of those times being in Championships. Each of us came away with Championships, and in each matchup, my respect for Sami as a competitor and a quarterback increased. Trust me... Being on opposite sides of the ball, we taught each other ever single time we stepped on the field. Sami Grisafe is one of the best to have ever played the game, and I truly believe anyone would be lucky to learn football from her. Be amazing!
