More About Coach Ryan

I've been a wrestling coach for 9 years and a strength and conditioning coach for 6 of them and am Nationally Certified (NSCA) as a CSCS (Strength and Conditioning Specialist) and also as a CPPS (Certified Physical Preparation Specialist)

I have coached wrestling at the high school and collegiate levels with Montour High School ('07-'10), (Alexander Area High School (OH) '11) and Washington and Jefferson College ('11-'13)

I have worked as a strength and conditioning coach for all the teams I have coached and started working as a private S&C coach in 2011.

I currently own and coach at my facility WadeTrained Performance and Fitness located in Moon Twp. PA, working with athletes 7-18+ in my Youth, Middle School, High School and Elite Athlete Academies.

NCAA D1 Wrestler as a freshman before injuring my knees. Once I stopped competing I immediately switched over to the coaching field and have been ever since.

This completely depends on the age of the athlete and what they need to work on most.

For Youth Athletes (Strength and Conditioning) I focus on building a foundation of Coordination, Strength, Power, Speed, Flexibility and Mobility by using various Bodyweight movements, Running, Jumping, Medicine Ball Throwing, Basic Gymnastics and Acceleration and Deceleration Techniques in Skill Sessions and "Movement Game" Scenearios. This is proven the best way to build a strong, powerful young athlete who is greatly resistant to injury for long term (into Middle - High School and Beyond)

For Middle School Athletes we begin with adding slightly more resistance to the exercises described in the youth section. Once the "Foundation Protocol" is met (The Athlete is graded strong enough to SAFLEY progress) then we begin to incorporate appropriately prescribed free weighted movements that do not load the spine.) Volume of exercise will also increase progressively as the athlete moves along in the program from a Foundational Athlete to the High School Prep Program.

High School Athletes are treated like they are preparing for Collegiate Sports - The structure of their program is largely dependent on the findings of their athletic assessment combined with the needs of their particular sport and position.

I also provide "Return 2 Play" services meant to provide athletes who have been injured and cleared through a licensed physical therapist, but still are not 100% and are not confident they are ready to play with their injury.

With my Youth, Middle and High School Wrestlers - Whatever they prove is needed through their assessment are what skills we will work on in addition to building their foundational level of strength.
