More About Coach Ryan

Ryan Rich has over 25 years of experience in martial arts, and is a Charles Gracie black belt and professor of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with more than 10 years of grappling training. He has taught self-defense classes for years, worked with private clients, and run grappling programs for local academies in Sacramento (children ages 3 and up, and adults of all ages). Ryan has university-level teaching experience with groups of over 100 students, having taught collegiate seminars out of state. He has lifelong experience working with individuals with special needs, and he is CPR certified.

I've trained with elite-level competitors over the last ten years, from world champion mixed martial artists like Urijah Faber to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu royalty in Charles Gracie, Ralph Gracie, the Mendes brothers, the Miyao brothers and Giva Santana. I've acted as a grappling coach and sparring partner for countless Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors and MMA fighters over the years. I own and operate my academy, granite bay jiu-jitsu, in Granite Bay, CA.

We work with all ages and experience levels. We specialize in developing structured lessons and customized programs for students alongside a solid foundation rooted in fundamentals in order to fast track progress and help students reach their goals.

Client Reviews

Want to take your game to the next level? Jiu-Jitsu is chess not checkers. You need someone who knows how all the pieces work.
If you're getting caught by things, hitting the proverbial wall, or just want to tighten your game up, make sure to schedule a lesson with Ryan. He keeps things simple in the explanation and teaches some really high-quality techniques.
Ryan has been teaching my daughter for over two years. He has taught her discipline, responsibility, and respect. She has learned self-defense and she has become more fit and confident. If you have a child or you yourself would like to learn the techniques of Jiu-Jitsu, there are very few teachers like Ryan.
