More About Coach Russell

My javelin schooling didn't stop with the end of my collegiate career. In addition to currently coaching a local HS track team, helping many athletes achieve countless PR’s and championship qualifiers, I've spent the last 15 years competing in a variety of sports domains from Crossfit to triathlons to brazilian jiu-jitsu. Through all my athletic experience, I have learned not just what makes a good javelin thrower, but what makes a Great competitor and human being!

I had an accomplished high school track career winning many local Invitationals and qualifying for the PA state championship meet. I attended Indiana Univ of PA as a javelin thrower where I was fortunate enough to competed at the NCAA DII championships placing 16th. During my collegiate career I also placed 5th at Penn Relays Carnival, and was PSAC conference champion with a PR of 207’. I'm still actively competing 15 years later any chance I get, and still throw close to 200' at 36 years old!.

Athletes can expect a personalized training session based on individual needs and goals. From throwing sessions and diagnosing technical inefficiencies, drilling sessions to improve specific skills and throwing mechanics, to a wide variety of modern strength and conditioning methods, I can help in any way a thrower needs to develop and CRUSH their goals!

Coach Russell is a great coach! His skills are top notch! He is very skilled with the mechanics of throwing. This is my son's first year of track and field and after one lesson he mentioned that was the best coach he has had thus far. My son has done pretty good this year for his first season, and believe if we would have found Coach Russell sooner he would have definitely flourished even the more. He taught him fundamentals techniques which he can build upon. We would like to continue working with him in the future.
