More About Coach Robert
I am currently the head coach of cross country at Hilbert College. I also formerly acted as an assistant coach at Hutch Tech High School for 10 years under one of the best high school coaches in Western New York. I have also informally coached a number of runners from my running club to pr's as well. I have gone through the USATF Coaching Level 1 program.
I have been running for 35 years, since high school cross country. I have completed 37 marathons and over a dozen ultra marathons. Additionally, I have raced in hundreds of shorter races from 1 mile to the half marathon over the years. I am continually a competitive age group runner, including finishing third in the Buffalo News Runner of the year series despite only running a few of the series races. I have also finished second in the masters division in the Western New York Ultra Series back when I was running ultra marathons.
I prefer to tailor the workout to an athlete's specific race or distance goal. Most workouts begin and end with some light stretching and proceed to dynamic warmup and form drills such as a,b, and c skip or carioca. After a good warmup I would have a workout based on what was called for that week. I like a plan that includes interval work, hill training, lactate threshold work, and long runs. I typically include alot of tempo pace workouts. I also advocate cross training, weight lifting, core work and plyometrics.

It’s still a work in progress but Bob has been an amazing help since day 1. Not only has he been great during the sessions but he’s also been nice enough to write up some trainings to do between our sessions. In just 3 weeks he has gotten my 1.5 mile down to approx 12 minutes and I started at 17 minutes!
