More About Coach Remontay

I am a USATF Level 1 and Level 2 Certified Coach with more than five years of experience coaching sprint athletes, speed development, and performance training across multiple levels of competition. My coaching experience includes working with youth athletes, high school athletes, collegiate athletes, Masters competitors, and amateur athletes pursuing personal performance goals.

I currently serve as a Sprints Coach at a private high school in San Diego, California, where I help athletes improve sprint mechanics, acceleration, maximum velocity, race strategy, and overall athletic development. In addition to track and field, I work with athletes from football, soccer, basketball, and other sports who are looking to improve speed, explosiveness, agility, and athletic performance.

My coaching philosophy combines proven sprint mechanics, individualized training programs, and athlete-specific development plans. Every athlete has different strengths, weaknesses, and goals, so I focus on building programs that maximize performance while promoting long-term athletic growth and injury prevention.

Over the years, I have coached athletes ranging from beginners learning proper sprint technique to experienced competitors competing at the high school, collegiate, and Masters levels. Whether the goal is making a varsity team, pursuing collegiate opportunities, improving athletic performance in another sport, or competing at a high level in track and field, I am committed to helping athletes reach their full potential through structured, evidence-based training and consistent mentorship.

My areas of expertise include sprint mechanics, block starts, acceleration development, maximum velocity training, speed endurance, strength and power development, and race preparation for the 100m, 200m, and 400m events.

My experience as an athlete has taught me firsthand what it takes to develop speed, compete under pressure, and perform at the highest levels of the sport. I bring those lessons directly into my coaching, helping athletes improve sprint mechanics, acceleration, race execution, and overall athletic performance.

Highlights include:
• Team USA International Representative
• Two-Time Pan American Games Gold Medalist (4x100m Relay)
• Collegiate All-American
• Professional Sprinter
• USATF Level 1 & Level 2 Certified Coach
• Coach of youth, high school, collegiate, and Masters athletes

My goal is to provide athletes with the same level of technical instruction, discipline, and competitive mindset that helped me succeed on the national and international stage.

Every training session is tailored to the athlete's age, experience level, sport, and individual goals. Whether I am working with a youth athlete, high school sprinter, collegiate competitor, Masters athlete, or an athlete from another sport, my focus is always on developing proper mechanics, maximizing speed, and building long-term athletic success.

A typical session begins with a dynamic warm-up designed to prepare the body for high-speed movement. This includes mobility work, sprint drills, activation exercises, and movement preparation to improve flexibility, coordination, and injury prevention.

Once the athlete is properly warmed up, we move into technical instruction. Depending on the athlete's needs, we may focus on sprint mechanics, acceleration, block starts, posture, arm action, stride efficiency, front-side mechanics, force application, or maximum velocity development. I break down each movement and provide real-time coaching feedback to help athletes understand not only what to do, but why it matters.

Training sessions often include sprint-specific drills, acceleration work, resisted sprints, flying sprints, speed endurance training, race modeling, and event-specific workouts for the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Athletes from football, soccer, basketball, and other sports will perform speed and explosiveness training designed to improve game performance and overall athleticism.

Throughout each session, I emphasize quality over quantity. Every repetition has a purpose, and athletes receive individualized coaching and corrections to ensure they are improving technique while developing speed, power, and confidence.

Sessions conclude with recovery work, cooldown exercises, and a discussion of key takeaways. Athletes leave with a clear understanding of what they did well, what they need to improve, and how to continue progressing toward their goals.

My objective is to create an environment that is challenging, positive, and results-driven, helping athletes become faster, more efficient, and more confident competitors.
