More About Coach Ray

I work with skilled positions ages 7 and older. I’ve played football since the age of seven up until 2012. I’ve coached high school football for five years in Alabama and is currently in the process of joining a high school staff in the Tampa Area. I have been a YMCA sports director the past three and half years (I have a great understanding of athletes of all ages). I am CPR and First Aid Certified as well thru the Red Cross.

I'm originally from New Orleans, La , beginning of my senior year my family was forced to relocated to Cullman, Al (the day before hurricane Katrina). Throughout my high school career at McDonogh 35 Senior High School in New Orleans, LA, I played on the varsity level of athletics in football, basketball and track, from my sophomore year throughout senior year. Our football team made the playoffs every season and I was a key contributor (Defensive and Team Captain) to our success throughout my seasons. However, my senior year my family was force to relocate to Cullman, Al (due to hurricane Katrina). I have always been a good player but a better student of the game. After playing six games at Cullman High School, Alabama A&M University offered me a full scholarship. Upon my arrival, I was able to be a part of bringing home the SWAC championship in 2006. Soon after, I was forced to miss two back-to-back seasons after breaking each one of my feet. The silver lining in being hurt was that I got to sit in the coach's booth where I learned as much as I could retain, from a coach's perspective, under the legendary Defensive Coordinator; Brawnski Towns. My senior year I was the game’s defensive MVP 4 out of 10 games. I was a 2011-2012 NFL prospect as well. I have a degree in PE with a concentration in sports management. However, this is a brief introduction, I appreciate you taking out the time to read, I would love to meet with you and/or your child and begin the process of getting better. I will take the drills and skills I have learned through adolescent years and college apply them as needed. I focus on creating better athletes not just football players. We will work to make the athletes weakness stronger while polishing his/her strengths in turn creating a better athlete. Being a YMCA Sports Director and High Football Coach, I have experience working with all types of personalities.
