More About Coach Randy

From 2016-2018 I was a graduate assistant for the Strength & Conditioning staff at Northwestern State University. I got my degree, then was an assistant power lifting coach at Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. During my time at Calvary we won the 2A State Championship. In May of 2018 I was then hired at Cornerstone Christian Schools as the Head Strength & Conditioning and am still there today.

Because I am only 5'11 many colleges over looked me and did not think that I could play defensive line at the next level regardless of my stats. I still decided to walk-on to Northwestern State University and earned a full scholarship after my freshman year. I was awarded with the Defensive Freshman of the Year and the Chris Waddell Outstanding Walk-on Award in 2014. Due to multiple concussions after my sophomore season i was medically disqualified. I wanted to continue to compete so I started a power lifting team called Savage Strength. We won multiple meets and had a few lifters qualify for nationals.

We will first focus on form and technique for proper running and lifting mechanics. Cone drills, ladder drills, hurdle drills, sled work, linear and lateral movement will all be stuff that is worked on outside on the field. When we workout in the weight room we will build volume, muscular endurance, strength and power through different types of lifts. No lifting experience is needed. We will start from the ground and work our way up if necessary.
