More About Coach Raegene

Track and Field Specialist: Helping athletes to be the BEST version of themselves. I have had 81 state qualifiers, 18 state champions, and assisted in numerous pathways for scholarships. Former athletes have gone on to break records and be nationally ranked at the JUCO, DII, and DI levels. One athlete has even gone pro and runs with Team Nike. I am launching a year-round training program for athletes of any age, any experience, and any level!

As a junior high athlete, I held records in the high jump and 100-meter hurdles. In high school, I held meet records for the 100, 200, 300 hurdles, 4X1, 4X2, and 4X4. Unfortunately, I suffered from a hip subluxation in my junior year of high school and never fully recovered. Despite walking on (and making) two D1 teams, I never fully healed and did not compete at the collegiate level. My love and passion for the sport makes me the ideal coach. I prioritize injury preventative techniques with a holistic approach.

Every session will start with a dynamic warmup with event-specific drills.
If the athlete is focused on increasing their reaction in block starts, then a session may look like this:
1. Dynamic stretching/Sprint Drills: Jogging, A-Skip, B-Skip, C-Skip, High Knees, etc.
2. Glute activation with bands
3. Buildups- start by jogging and build to full speed. Safely roll out of full speed back to a jog the moment your body tenses up- the distance will vary based on the athlete- no more than 50 meters of work.
4. Start drills: standing start, falling start, 3 hops start, Pushup and clap, 3 point, 4 point.
5. Block adjustments
6. Up downs ( "runners to your marks, Set" and repeat)
7. Block Starts.

*This is a sample and the progression may or may not happen in one day depending on the athlete's experience and ability.*
**The previous step SHOULD be mastered before moving on.**

Client Reviews

I have known Coach Rae for the past six years. Rae is a young coach with a lifetime of knowledge and an old school approach. The experiences and struggles she has gone through in her personal life make her a wonderful coach. A big part of coaching is connecting with your athletes. I would say that this is her specialty. She has worked with athletes of all ages and skill levels. One of my favorite things about her is that she finds a way to relate to every one of the athletes in a unique way and push them to do their best. Every athlete struggles at some point she finds a way to help them overcome those struggles. When she was coaching at Central High School a student was never turned away from her program. However, every student was held to a high standard. There were many athletes that were overlooked by other programs in the school. She took pride in developing athletes that other coaches said, “they can’t play for me”. One of Rae’s strongest qualities is belief. The one word that was not allowed to be said on the track team was can’t. In her words, can’t meant you were unwilling to try. Each of her athletes’ successes looked different from the next, However, every athlete that left her program was a success in some way. The diversity of the student body we served at Central High School has prepared her for a successful coaching career. She served students from all walks of life and devoted her life toward making them the best version of themselves both on and off the track. Coach Rae has had a hand in the success of many athletes. She has coached them into DI, DII and JUCO athletes. She took pride in finding the correct level for each student athlete academically, and athletically and helped them find the best fit for them at that level. Rae is a bright, hardworking, individual that never gives up on her athletes. She would be a wonderful addition to any staff and any program would be lucky to have her.
As an employee, Coach Rae was always positive, nurturing, demanding of her athletes, yet fair. She was innovative and dynamic with her practices and coaching style. Coach Rae never had a problem going above and beyond for the school and her players. She often showed up early and stayed late.I’ve always put a premium on relationships, accountability, academic reverence and discipline among my team coaches and players and Coach Rae never failed to deliver. Raegene Riggs is a delight to work with and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her again.
