More About Coach Rachel

My coaching background includes collegiate track and field, youth sports, strength and conditioning, and physical education. I have worked with developing athletes as well as high-level competitors, including athletes who progressed to Olympic competition.
My approach combines proper technique, progressive skill development, speed, strength, mobility, confidence, and age-appropriate goal-setting. I believe athletes improve best when they understand not only what to do, but why they are doing it. Sessions are adapted to each athlete’s age, experience, learning style, sport demands, and long-term goals.
I am a certified Texas Physical Education and Health teacher, a USATF Level 2 coach, an AAU Track and Field coach, a strength and conditioning coach, a Texas soccer coach, and a trained life coach. My experience as an educator also helps me communicate clearly with young athletes, break complex movements into manageable steps, and build confidence without sacrificing sound technique.
I work with school-age athletes, teenagers, collegiate athletes, and adults seeking thoughtful, individualized development. My goal is to help each athlete become stronger, more technically proficient, more confident, and better prepared for long-term success in sport.

I am a former NCAA Division I track and field athlete who also competed internationally. Training and competing at a high level gave me firsthand experience with the physical demands, mental discipline, time management, setbacks, and long-term commitment required in competitive athletics.
My athletic background continues to shape how I coach. I understand the difference between simply making an athlete work hard and developing that athlete with purpose. I emphasize strong fundamentals, efficient movement, progressive training, confidence, and habits that support sustainable performance.

Each session is individualized according to the athlete’s age, experience, event, current ability, and goals. The first session includes a discussion of the athlete’s background and goals, followed by an assessment of running mechanics, mobility, coordination, strength, and areas needing improvement.
A typical session begins with a dynamic warm-up, mobility, and muscle activation. We then work on movement quality and running technique through drills such as marching, A-skips, wall drills, acceleration starts, arm-action practice, posture work, and foot-placement drills. The main portion may focus on acceleration, maximum-speed mechanics, endurance, pacing, agility, strength, power, or event-specific development.
I provide clear explanations and immediate, age-appropriate feedback so the athlete understands both what to correct and why it matters. Sessions conclude with strength, stability, mobility, or recovery work, followed by a brief review and one or two specific areas to practice between sessions. My priority is purposeful progress, sound technique, confidence, and long-term athletic development—not simply exhausting the athlete.
