More About Coach Paul
I have over 10 years of coaching and competitive training experience. I grew up in a very sports centric town, Steamboat Spring, Colorado, also known as “Ski Town USA.” My athletic nature was instilled in me when I starting cross-country training with my mother, a Nordic Ski Coach with over 30 years of competitive coaching experience. Which led me to various national competitions and building my skill set as a coach and mentor.
Aside from my personal athletic achievements, I have extensive experience coaching swimming at all ages and levels – developmental (ages 6-8), masters (ages 18-25), competitive (ages 12-18), water polo, and triathlon.
I am a USA certified swim coach (CPR, AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding) with experience working with over 5 teams.
– 4x Junior Olympics Qualifier for Swimming & Nordic Skiing (top ten finishes)
- 5x Senior Nationals, Nordic Skiing
- USA Triathlon Series, Top Finisher
It is important for me as a coach to connect with each athlete in order to understand what they are looking for and what goals they have in mind. This helps promote a relaxing environment in order to promote growth.
Each session is personalized and adjusted for that athlete. The first part of the session is focused on technique and general drills to get body motion correct (we will build on those drills and become more specific in future sessions). This first part also consists of a general body warm up.
The main set is focused toward either faster swimming, pulling or kicking, to increase cardio performance. This in turn will help with our technique.
Their are plenty of fun swim sets and drills to keep you busy in the water and make time fly. We will use swim equipment (paddles, kick board, and pull buoy) that will help us increase cardio while isolating and focusing on one part of the body at a time.
* Currently only coaching Ocean Swimming/Triathlon and Running. Unless athlete has access to their own pool.
