More About Coach Paul
I bring an elite-level attention to detail to speed, sprint, hurdle, and athletic development coaching. My background includes competing as a Division I track and field athlete, specializing in the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles, and ranking among the top athletes in the world in my event group during my competitive career.
As a coach, I work with athletes ranging from young beginners to high school, college, and advanced competitors. My coaching approach is built around evaluation first. I look at the athlete’s age, sport, movement quality, training history, goals, confidence, and current limitations before deciding what they need. I do not believe in random workouts or one-size-fits-all training.
I specialize in developing acceleration, sprint mechanics, max velocity, first-step quickness, change of direction, deceleration, jumping ability, coordination, rhythm, reactive athleticism, hurdle technique, running form, race preparation, and overall athletic confidence. For field and court sport athletes, I help improve the qualities that transfer to sport: starting faster, stopping safely, changing direction efficiently, producing force, and moving with better control.
For youth athletes, my focus is age-appropriate development. Younger athletes need coordination, balance, rhythm, body control, skipping, jumping, landing, throwing, catching, confidence, and a positive relationship with movement before they need intense performance training. For older athletes, I progress training based on readiness, sport demands, and the athlete’s ability to handle quality work.
Whether an athlete is preparing for track, football, flag football, soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, or another speed-based sport, the goal is the same: build better movers, faster athletes, and more confident competitors through precise coaching and individualized development.

Sprint, hurdle, relay, speed, and athletic development specialist
Every session starts with identifying the athlete’s current capabilities and needs. I assess how the athlete moves, accelerates, decelerates, changes direction, sprints, jumps, lands, and responds to coaching. From there, the session is built around the athlete’s goals, sport, age, and training level.
A typical session may include movement preparation, sprint mechanics, acceleration work, speed development, hurdle technique, change of direction, jumping and landing, coordination, rhythm, strength-based movement, or sport-speed development. I emphasize quality over exhaustion. The goal is not just to make athletes tired. The goal is to help them move better, understand what they are doing, and develop traits that transfer to performance.
For younger athletes, sessions are more playful, skill-based, and coordination-focused. For advanced athletes, sessions become more technical, precise, and performance-driven.

Coach Paul is a great trainer! We have had 4 sessions with him and we can already see a big improvement in our 14 yr old daughter’s sprint technique and speed. He is patient and encouraging. He does a great job of communicating with the athlete and the parents. We highly recommend coach Paul!
Zion Allen (Testimonial)
Coach Lyons helped me accomplish so much in just my senior year. He was a huge factor in helping me get a full ride to BYU for football.
Julian Moncada (Testimonial)
Coach lyons has been such a game changer for me when it comes to speed. He’s pushed me to my limits, taught me proper techniques, and helped me build strength and endurance. With his guidance and my hard work, I’ve seen incredible progress. I came in my freshman year of high school with no track experience and started the szn off running a (11.4) and ended my sophomore szn with a (10.7). I’ve become faster, more explosive, and more confident on the track. It's amazing to see how far I’ve come.
Josiah Ford (Testimonial)
