More About Coach Natalie

Natalie DeGenova is a New York City-based NASM Certified Personal Trainer who specializes in bootcamp-style cardio, strength training, rowing, dance cardio, and running. Natalie’s mission is simple: provide a fitness foundation to as many people as possible that enables them to train like an athlete and experience the endorphin-filled senses of joy, accomplishment, and confidence that come with moving your body in a way that feels good. Natalie brings encouragement, hope, positivity, and authenticity to every workout, knowing that the mental shift that surfaces through fitness is often much more important than the physical. Not everyone will love fitness, but Natalie will continue sharing her ever-growing passion to help people find their power through movement they can stick to for the long haul, that allows them to live their happiest, most fulfilling lives. In addition to NASM, Natalie is a UESCA Certified Run Coach, an ACE Functional Movement Specialist, and an ACE Fitness Nutrition Specialist. She currently teaches all levels of group fitness for the gyms in the Stuytown neighborhood in Manhattan and trains clients individually throughout Manhattan.

Most recently, I completed the 2022 NYC Marathon at 4 hours, 45 seconds and became a UESCA Certified Run Coach to help runners take on their first races. I also placed 3rd in my age category at the Brooklynite Fall Half Marathon. My athletic journey began as a competitive dancer where I competed in all styles of dance from 3rd grade through senior year of high school, traveling nationally for competitions and taking home dance convention scholarships like the New York City Dance Alliance Radio City Rockette Scholarship. After high school, I transitioned from dance into teaching fitness and moving more into the strength training world where I am today, although teaching dance cardio is still a big part of what I love to do.

I typically take clients through an hour session broken into 3 supersets or tri-sets. These are largely full-body workouts where I will have a lower body move, followed by an upper body, then either a core or a cardio move. We'll repeat these 3x through with a bit of rest between to recover before moving on to the next 3 exercises, with 3 supersets or tri-sets in total. I begin every workout with a dynamic warm-up where we're getting the body warm and moving in similar patterns that will match the workout, and I end every workout with a static stretch/cool down to aid in recovery. My workouts are tailored to each client's goals so we focus more on cardio, core, leg strength, etc., depending on what the client is working toward most.
