I have over thirty years experience in the field of Aquatics, focusing on beginning swimming skill development, technical aspects of stroke refinement for the competitive swimmer, and water-based strength training for athletes of all sports. I have taught students of all ages from infant to adult, and coached at the age group and varsity swimming levels.
I have held positions at many educational facilities, private clubs, and Olympic caliber training venues. I have water-trained professional athletes, and many collegiate sport teams.
I have certifications in swimming instruction of all levels, varsity coaching certification, as well as extensive experience in proper body mechanics, and the therapeutic aspects of water training.

I began swimming at age three, and began swimming competitively at age five. I then swam on age group club teams until I switched to Varsity Swimming in high school. It was at this time, that I had become certified as an instructor and lifeguard, and began working part-time and during summer breaks. I decided not to pursue swimming in college, because I found that teaching was far more rewarding to me.

I like to sit down with a new client prior to the first session to meet them, and find out their current level of experience, and address their goals and needs. I also find out if they have any special requirements,and answer any questions they may have. I then set up a schedule for the sessions, and give them my contact information for future reference.
At the first in -water session, I review what was discussed at the initial meeting, have the client demonstrate their current skill level, and based on what I see, develop an individual lesson plan. This plan has a combination of constructive feedback, skill demonstration and repetition, as well as video feedback. Lesson lengths are based on the age and fitness tolerance of the client, and can range from thirty to sixty minutes per session an can be scheduled singularly or multiple times per week.
At the end of the session, I review what was practiced, and give wet or dry homework to practice depending on pool availability between sessions.
