More About Coach Morgan
My coaching experience with athletes includes personal training and coaching first time long distance runners. I typically coach beginner and intermediate runners in the 20-40 year old age group. I have helped many clients train for and complete half marathons (without stopping)! I received my personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and my holistic health coaching certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I rowed on the Georgetown University D-1 Women's Lightweight Rowing team. During college, I also fell in love with running middle-long distance and have completed a marathon and multiple half-marathons since.
My goal is to create a personalized plan for each client that will help them achieve their running goals. My philosophy focuses on consistency and building a strong endurance base before adding in other factors, such as speed and hill work. Once a solid foundation is built, I begin incorporating more variety in the training to add a new level of challenge. I believe that every runner can benefit from strength training, so I also include running specific exercises as well as mobility work in my training plans. For beginners or those getting back into running, most initial sessions will be easy runs focused on relaxed form, breathing techniques, and getting used to the repetitive motion of running. There will be one long run per week that the runner will complete on his/her own or with me if preferred. Each week the long run and overall mileage will be slowly increased.

Oh boy, what can I say?
My first run with Morgan was three miles seven months ago. I told her I'd been running for about 1.5 years, but my IT band was giving me problems at longer distances (6+ miles). My ultimate goal was to be able to run a half marathon without stopping and without pain. I'm proud to say that not only did I run 14 miles in November without pain, but I just ran my first half marathon race ever, and finished under my goal time of two hours (1:55:52). I wasn't sure if I could do it, but she was wildly encouraging the entire way through. I just trusted her process, never wavered, and here I am, accomplishing the goals I set out to do. I'm a happy half marathoner 😁
