More About Coach Monica
I have over a decade of experience as a runner, which has fueled my passion for coaching others to reach their running goals. I am an **RRCA Level 1 Run Coach certified**, and I’ve worked with athletes of various experience levels, from beginners aiming to complete their first 5K to seasoned runners training for marathons.
I currently lead group runs in Tampa, partnering with **Fleet Feet Brandon** for monthly sessions as part of **Latinos Run Tampa**, where I serve as the Lead Ambassador. I’ve also offered personalized training plans, such as an 8-week free Run Coach program for women in Empowherment. I typically work with adults, but my approach is adaptable to different age groups and fitness levels. My focus is on empowering individuals to develop sustainable and healthy running habits while achieving their personal goals.
I have run the **Chicago Marathon** and completed over 20 half marathons in the last 10 years. While I’ve never competed at the collegiate or professional level, I’ve dedicated myself to endurance running and have built a strong foundation of experience. My accomplishments reflect a consistent commitment to the sport and a passion for inspiring others through running.
In a typical session with me, you'll start with dynamic stretching to prepare your body for the workout and reduce the risk of injury. After that, we’ll do a 10-minute warm-up to get your muscles ready and your heart rate up.
If it’s a speed training day, we’ll focus on specific drills for about 20 minutes. These could include form-focused exercises like high knees, butt kicks, or strides, and progressive interval work to build speed and stamina. We’ll wrap up with a 10-minute cooldown to promote recovery and reduce soreness.
Each session is tailored to your progress and goals, ensuring you’re challenged while building confidence in your running abilities. I create training programs in 2-week increments to adapt as you improve and keep the workouts fresh and effective.
