More About Coach Mike
Mike Taksir is a performance leader with over a decade of experience optimizing athletic potential across professional sports, elite military units, and high-performance training facilities. Currently serving as the Head of Strength and Conditioning for the Boston Fleet in the Professional Women’s Hockey League, he designs and directs comprehensive performance programs, manages sport science initiatives, and fosters collaboration between coaching, medical, and operations staff to maximize player readiness and recovery.
In addition to his role with the Fleet, Mikhail is a Sports Performance Coach at Bando Performance Center, where he has developed training solutions for athletes ranging from NFL and NHL players to UFC fighters and NCAA standouts. His expertise spans advanced sport science technologies, data-driven workload monitoring, and multidisciplinary program design.
Previously, Mikhail served as Director of Performance Programming for DURO Health, overseeing strength and conditioning operations for U.S. Air Force Pararescue Squadrons and Special Operations units nationwide. His work has also impacted professional athletes, youth sports organizations, and injury prevention initiatives through roles at The Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention at Boston Children's Hospital and the University of Miami Football program.
Holding a Master’s in Kinesiology from the University of Miami, Mike blends science, innovation, and leadership to elevate performance environments—whether on the ice, on the field, or in the most demanding operational settings. Mike is a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC), a designation given to Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) who have served more than 2 years in team sport or tactical performance units by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as various certifications related to the field.
I was a 3 sport varsity athlete in high school playing soccer, basketball and lacrosse. In addition to high school athletics, I was a club soccer player in high school and had a brief playing stint during college. I started training in an organized fashion as an 8th grader and was always fascinated by the process and how it can transfer to sport.
Clients can expect a highly individualized and purposeful session built around their unique goals and sport demands while taking into account their training experience, injury history and current level of performance. Whether I'm working with a professional athlete, a tactical operator, or a developing collegiate or high school player, every session is designed to be efficient, data-informed, and focused on the long term development of the athlete.
Sessions with me start with comprehensive movement preparation that goes beyond just warming up. Athletes can expect mobility and activation drills that focus on preparing them for the demands and goals of the session. I place a strong emphasis on movement quality and transferability to sport, so I’ll integrate sprint work, change of direction drills, and plyometrics that match the energy systems and patterns the athlete actually uses in competition. From there, we move into strength training blocks which could include force and power development using Olympic lifts, velocity-based training, or contrast methods, depending on the athlete’s goals and where they are in their training cycle. I use a mix of sport science tools to make sure we’re training smart and not just grinding for the sake of it. Everything we do has a purpose, whether that’s getting faster, stronger, more explosive, or simply staying healthy and durable throughout a long season.
At the end of the day, my goal is to give athletes the tools to perform at their best and feel confident doing it. I keep things challenging, but also supportive, so you leave every session better than you came in. We train hard but that also means training smart. Every session is part of a larger plan built on communication, collaboration, and measurable outcomes that reflect what truly matters to the athlete’s performance.
