More About Coach Mike

I graduated from Merrimack College where I played ice hockey and lacrosse. Upon graduating, I worked with Perform Better/MF Athletics, presenting/lecturing, nationally, to sport physicians, trainers, therapists, coaches, and fitness Professionals, on the most up-to-date training methods and equipment. I worked for noted Strength and Conditioning pioneer, Mike Boyle, from 1992-97. In addition to my duties at NEST, I am a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins. I have worked for the orginization for 20 seasons. I have worked with athletes from the NHL, NFL, MLB, NBA, PGA and every sport, at every level, including #1 draft picks, All-Star selections, olympic gold medalists, national champions, etc. Still, I consider my major contribution to be my work with thousands of local, developing athletes, ages 8 to 18. A former Strength and Conditioning coach at Providence College and Brown University, I am the past state director for the National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA Weightlifting where my responsibility was to serve as a liason to the local sport community, relaying and disemminating the most recent and up-to-date science-based research pertaining to strength and conditioning for sport.

All programs start with a single session.... the Initial Assessment. This is a combine-like testing session that allows me to measure particular strengths and weaknesses, in athletism, in an objective and subjective way. Once completed, I will have a physical fingerprint of you, be able to design an appropriate exercise and meal plan, and have a benchmark to measure future improvements, against. THE INITIAL ASSESSMENT IS PROVIDED AT NO-COST!

Once completed, I offer a number of different training programs: Team Training, Small Group Training, and Private Instruction. All three training packages require the Initial Athletic Assessment, for placement.

Team Training provides a generalized approach. It is designed to enhance team unity, team focus, and team competitiveness. Each team is assessed and the program is designed to address the physical needs of the team. Team Training requires a minimum of 6 athletes and the schedule is determined by the coach or organization. For many players, team traning provides the first introduction to sport-specificc strength and conditioning. Team Training pricing starts at $4.50 per session, per player.

Small Group Training provides a customized approach with a more intimate and focused training session. Group sizes range from 2 to 6 athletes. There are numerous groups and time slots available. Placement is determined by age and assessed athletic ability to ensure that training programs can be tailored to fit each players needs. We offer 6, 12, and 52 werk packages. Prices start at $105/month.

The final progression in the NEST training method is the Private Instruction Package. This package provides an individualized approach. It is designed for both serious athletes and those who need a more individualized and concentrated training session. Six and twelve week programs start at $90 per month.

All three packages are designed to build off one another to ensure the development of well-conditioned, high-intensity athletes, who are less susceptible to injury.
