More About Coach Mike
Since I graduated from the University of Texas in 2014, I have worked with high-school and collegiate specialists (punters and place kickers) part time. I primarily coach in the Houston area.
I walked onto the Texas football team without any prior football experience. I had a soccer background and decided to try something new. After much practice, I became the starting punter in 2014. I averaged 42 yards per punt and was 2014 First Team Academic All Big 12. After college, I participated in pro day and chased the NFL for a few months before settling down in Houston.
Before our first session, I will have a brief conversation with my client to make sure I understand their goals and aspirations. I then always start with a dynamic warm up for injury prevention. Next, I go into drill work and execution. If the client has specific things they want to work on, I can make that a focal point of the training. If the client is looking for more guidance and wants me to direct the session, I am happy to do that too. After we are done kicking, I will cool down with some static stretching (once again for injury prevention). During that time, we will recap what we went over during the session and make a game plan for coming sessions. In addition, I like to use that time as a chance to converse with my clients. I enjoy the mentoring side of coaching as much as the technical side so I hope to be a resource for my clients both on and off the field.

Client Reviews
Jeff (CoachUp client)
Coach Mike ran a great first lesson. My son's kicking is already better and he is gaining more confidence. Great job!
Troy (CoachUp client)
Mike has been a big help to our son in refining his technique along building consistency in his process
Former Coach (Testimonial)
Mike has a unique perspective on the technical elements of both kicking and punting. He taught himself both skills, and as a result, he's able to communicate well with those trying to learn.
