Client Reviews

Coach Mick was so helpful! My son loved having coach Mick to communicate with throughout his cross country season. We are requesting further sessions with him.

Coach Mick is amazing. From a few short sentences he intuitively knew what do do for my 15 year old son. My son has been running faithfully and putting in amazing effort in his training due to Coach Mick. I am so happy I found CoachUp and Coach Mick.

I first became aware of Coach Mick when I read his book, "The Youth and Teen Running Encyclopedia", and as an inexperienced high school cross country coach, I was extremely impressed with his philosophy and approach to training. I've read many books on running since I began coaching, and Coach Mick's book is my absolute favorite and the one I constantly find myself going back to. Coach Mick is all about the long-term development of runners through a thoughtful, balanced approach, always keeping the athlete's health (mental and physical) at the forefront. When my young daughter became interested in running, there was no question in my mind who I would choose to oversee her training and development. Coach Mick is an amazing coach who has produced many state and national champions, and he's also a great man. I recommend him without reservation!

Coach Mick is awesome! I am a coach myself, and it's hard to heed your own advice at times, so having Mick there to make sure I don't push the envelope too far right now is what I've needed. He is super supportive, attentive, and super knowledgeable too. He also develops great relationships with his athletes, and his enthusiam for them shows! Truly a great person!! If you are looking for a running coach, look no further! Coming from a coaches perspective, he is the real deal!!!! Looking forward to progressing my training, and knocking out some future PR's with him too!! Thank you Mick for all that you do!!

Coach Mike is great! I am very happy With all he is teaching me!!!

Mick has been very helpful to far. Although I've been running for several years he had new information for me right away. His attitude is great and he's flexible with where we meet. He's very responsive to what I'd like to work on and he seems to be an expert at long distance running. He's also very nice to run with! I would definitely recommend him to anyone who would like to get more out of their running.

October Update: It has been great working with Mick. I recently ran my marathon and even though I missed some training time during the summer I exceeded my goal and came in 2 minutes faster than expected for my marathon! I'm very happy with the training and the results.

Coach Mick is fantastic. Not only has he answered every one of my questions (of which there have been many), but he even downloaded the app I use to track my runs and proactively follows up with me with follow-up questions ("how was your run?" "how do your [insert vital body parts that are prone to injury] feel?" "what's your HR?" ETC!) and advice on how to improve my running.

Coach Mick has been very straightforward with his expectations, but also very supportive in helping me reach my ambitious goal of running in my first marathon. I have loved working with Mick. Honestly, I feel lucky to have him as a coach.

Mick came to me at a critical point in my athletic career. I needed to elevate the level I was competing at and needed to elevate the level I was training at accordingly. He taught me how to be the best, and what it took to win big races. He made it possible for me to receive a world-class education and work in one of the most exciting and interesting industries I can imagine, professional track & field. There are not many coaches with Mick's knowledge of the sport and commitment to the athlete, and virtually none at the youth level. He has given so much to me, and to countless others during his illustrious career. I will be forever grateful. -Youth and Teen Running Encyclopedia
Mick Grant is a fantastic coach who knows how to develop youth runners into athletes who excel at the high school level and beyond. I have two daughters and if they end up running I hope they have a coach as caring and capable as Mick Grant. -Youth and Teen Running Encyclopedia
