More About Coach Michael
-3 years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level
-Experience working at schools in the following conferences: America East, MAAC, and Big East/CAA
-Well rounded experience having worked with the following sports at the Division I Level:
Football, Baseball, Swimming & Diving, Field Hockey, Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, Water Polo, Women's Lacrosse, Track and Field (Sprinters, Jumpers, and Mid-Distance Runners), Cross Country, and Cheerleading
-While I specialize in athletes at the collegiate level, I have also privately worked with high-school athletes and middle-school aged athletes looking to learn what it takes to excel in today's competitive collegiate environment
-I have a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and two industry certifications: The CSCS from the NSCA, and the SCCC from the CSCCa (gold standard certification for collegiate strength and conditioning coaches)
-Silver Medalist at 2007 North American Roller Hockey (NARCh) Regional Championships - Fredericksburg, Virginia
-Two Time Bronze Medalist 2009 Grapplers Quest North American Championshps - Morristown, New Jersey
Each session begins with a warm-up that will "set the tone" and prepare the athlete for physical performance and mental focus throughout the session
After warm-up we will go through two to three "Prehab" movements that will address the typical injuries seen in the athlete's given sport (e.x. - shoulder, elbow, and lower back for Baseball player)
Upon completing our block of "prehab" exercises we will enter the main block of the workout where we will train either in the weight room (strength, power, endurance), or out on the field (speed, agility, conditioning)
The post-workout segment of our training session will encompass either stretching or self myofascial release to begin the recovery process
Each session is designed not only to train the athlete's body but to educate the athlete as well. As a coach, it is my job to teach the athlete to monitor how they are feeling, when they need to make adjustments, and how to go about making the adjustments in order to perform at their best.
