More About Coach Michael
I am looking to coach for the first time. I recently finished running track in college and have spent much of my focus on becoming a firefighter. I currently work for Denver Fire and believe now is a greta time to coach on the side. I have been asked to coach at Columbine high school in both football and track and field.
I am a former Division 1 Track and Field athlete for Colorado State. I specialized in the Long/Triple Jump and also sprinted. I competed throughout the Mountain West and gained knowledge and the skills needed to perform at a high level. I played football and ran track in high school at Columbine where I competed in multiple state championships and won multiple First Team All Conference honors. I held multiple offers to play football and run track in college before ultimately deciding to call CSU home. I am passionate about this sport and want to see all athletes perform to the best of their ability and I believe I have a lot to offer.
I focus a lot of my training around technical work. The long and triple jump is a very technical sport and very few people possess the knowledge needed to perform well at it. I have had world class coaching and have learned what is needed to perform well in these events. I start with a warm up, short speed session and focus most of the session on reps in the jumps. I believe short approach jumps are key to fine tuning the event and also is not as demanding on the body. I give homework and drills for athletes to work on in the off time and am also available for questions as well.
