Every workout plan is carefully built to fit the needs of the athlete. I generally use the first session to gauge the strengths and weaknesses of the player. Building off this foundation, I use lessons and exercises I have learned playing in college and professionally to create a workout that is tailored to what the client needs to work on most.

As a reference, I have listed a workout I recently made for a player that was struggling with off hand dribbling and shooting from the perimeter.

Warmup (15 mins)
-Stationary two hand ball handling (ball pounds, finger tip passes, same time dribbles, alternating dribbles, inverted pounds, "windshield wipers", front and backs, high-low dribbles, crossovers, between the legs, behind the back)
-One hand ball handling (figure 8's, "M dribble", tennis ball crossover catches w/ both hands
- Form shooting (3 rounds, 20 shots each round for 60 shots total, progressing from one hand shots, to adding form hand, to regular jump shot

Stationary Shooting (15 Mins)
- Midrange 5 shots at 5 spots (25 total)
-3 point 5 shots at 5 spots (25 total)

Moves on the move (15 mins)
- Ball screen sequence. Athlete has to come off screen and score at basket, shoot mid range shot, and shoot a 3. Layup is worth 1, midrange is worth 2, three pointer is worth 3. Goal is for athlete to get to 15 points as quickly as possible. Every finish at basket must be with left hand.
-3/2/1 drill ----> athlete must MAKE a 3, a one dribble pull-up both ways, and a layup both ways at all 5 spots.

1-1 (15 mins)
- End session with a game of 1-1. Force athlete to their non dominant hand, use the skills we have worked on all session in a live setting!

Client Reviews

Coach Michael is an awesome coach. My son who is twelve was fortunate to have this experience learning from such a great resource.

My experience with Michael has been extremely positive and what stands out are his enthusiasm, encouragement, and of course... his amazing basketball skills! Communication has been great because he is very professional and respectful. Don’t think otherwise! He has been responsive to my inquiries in a timely manner and also has been flexible in making plans for coaching sessions. Easy to reach, too. I am an adult newbie to basketball hoping to build a hobby, and he’s understanding of this and started me with the basics in a very non-judgmental way. I actually feel perfectly comfortable if the ball misses the hoop the first time; because he’s patient enough until I do get the hang of it. I recommend him for all ages because he has the perfect personality and skills to engage anyone interested in this sport!

Coach Michael was fantastic. He provided a rigorous, personalized session that was simultaneously really fun.

Michael was very professional and my son had fun working with him. He has great energy and is very motivating. My son enjoyed the session and would be happy to schedule another with Michael.

I usually don't do this, but my experience was not good. After setting up a session it was canceled just a few hours before it was to be done. Communication has been horrible. I haven't received any form of communication since the cancellation, and now trying to get a refund has been difficult. Seems like a good guy, but if you're going to get into these kind of things communication is key.

Coach Mike is a great coach. He made my son feel comfortable and he is learning a great deal from him. My son is always excited for his next practice with his coach.
