More About Coach Michael
My coaching experience began my senior year in high school where I coached tee ball. Later on, I trained young athletes during my off season from the University of Texas. Afterwards, I became a personal trainer at Anytime Fitness where I helped clients develop personal fitness and nutritional goals. My coaching has been minimized by a few clients due to the fact I'm training for a more solidified spot on a pro team. Now, in the off season, I am looking to help young athletes improve their game and learn life lessons.
During my junior year of high school, I received All State Honors in football. The following year, I was nominated as an All American, in which I played in the Army All American Bowl. In the following months I graduated early to participate in spring drills at the University of Texas. By the end of that year, I was nominated on the Texas All Century Team. I received letterman honors at UT for four years and received Big 12 honorable mention for the last two. Also, I was nominated for team awards, such as: Most Outstanding Offensive New Comer, the Strength and Conditioning Award, Team Captain, as well as, the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. After college, I signed free agency with the Seattle Seahawks and the San Diego Chargers. Later I signed free agency with the Arizona Rattlers of the AFL where I received All Arena Honors each year. Later, I signed a practice squad contract with the Washington Redskins. The following year, I signed with the San Diego Chargers and am currently under contract.
First off, safety is key. Nothing I would do would jeopardize the athlete's health. All drills will have little to no contact but will maximize technique, strength, and coordination. The athlete would be put through a baseline of general position techniques then evaluated by their weaknesses and personally develop drills to maximize technique. In addition, I would take into consideration of the athlete's concerns and frustrations and help build off that as well. Each session would begin with a warm up followed by position specific drills and exercises set for that day. Rest times will be put into consideration. Once the drills are complete, there may be a conditioning session followed by a cool down and/or stretch. Each session the athlete will be challenged with a goal or task to achieve.
