More About Coach Michael
My playing experience includes the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where I was also a student coach. My work experience includes working with high school athletes through Sports International Camps, college athletes at the junior college and D3 NCAA levels, and working briefly with arena league athletes. I've coached at Vermilion Community College in Minnesota, Lon Morris College in Texas, MacMurray College in Illinois, and Austin Turf Cats (SIFL) arena team. I also did my student teaching/coaching at Copperas Cove High School in Texas.
I have primarily coached offensive positions, including wide receivers, quarterbacks, running back and special teams (punters, punt returners, kickers and kick returners) I also have some experience coaching defensive backs and linebackers.

When I attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, we went to the Stag Bowl in 2004. In 2005, we were conference champions, and D3 playoff quarterfinalists in 2006. In 2007, I coached at Copperas Cove HS, and the team was in the 5A National Championship game. While at Vermilion Community College, we were the Northern Minnesota Division champions. In my first season as an assistant coach at MacMurray College, we achieved the school's first football wins in several years. I also helped develop plays, signals and training programs while working with the Lon Morris College program.
Each session depends on the individual athlete and the position he plays. I like to get to know the athlete and what he expects to learn or wants to improve. A first session would include evaluating the skilI and knowledge level of the athlete and so we can build on that foundation. I coach proper techniques and introduce drills that provide practice for those techniques so the athlete can improve skills, learn new skills and develop confidence in their abilities. For example, wide receiver sessions would include stance and start, how to get off the line and down field, learning how to run sharp, quick routes, and practicing catching the ball from all angles, i.e., from the right, from the left, up high, and down low. Working with a quarterback would include footwork drills to learn how to move out of the pocket while keeping your eyes downfield and the proper way to hold and throw the football. Working on the fundamentals of making a good throw and coordinating the footwork is essential as well as learning how to read the defense. Each session is customized to the position and to the individual, depending on their skill level and needs. The techniques are taught so that they can be transferred to drill work which can then be transferred to the playing field. Any other position sessions include focusing on the techniques and drills that are specific to that particular position.

Client Reviews
Chris Douglas, Head Football Coach, MacMurray College (Testimonial)
I can attest to the character, professional abilities and work ethic of Coach Finney. Hiring him proved to be a great stoke of fortune. This is due to the fact that Coach Finney has proven himself capable of handling multiple administrative tasks as well as caring for his position players and team as a whole.
Michael Quartey Esq., National Bowl Founder/President (Testimonial)
I am the President and Founder of the Annual National Bowl Game where the best college football seniors from around the country travel to Allentown, PA to compete in an All Star game format where NFL scouts recruit talent from our rosters. Michael has been instrumental for us in an organizational standpoint as he helped mentor and coach as an offensive assistant to NFL legendary coach Mike Stock along with other pro coaches from the arena leagues. From my evaluation, Michael exhibits three qualities that make him the perfect candidate for this position. These are: a tremendous work ethic, an in-depth knowledge of coaching football, and unquestionable integrity and reliability. Coach Finney is one of the most knowledgeable people I know about football. Not only does he know the game itself, he demonstrates the ability to teach the required skills that allow his teams to win. He knows that football is not just designing a good play, but rather he develops and teaches systems that allow for success. I have first hand seen his coaching techniques and can tell Michael knows how to motivate each player in his own way while remaining professional at all times but acting as a meaningful mentor which I believe is the key to a successful program.
