More About Coach Michael
I ran Track and Field as well as Cross Country at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. I am originally from Gainesville, Florida where I was a three sport Letterman and an all-state athlete for 2 years.
My coaching experience includes middle school, high school and youth track clubs that I founded. I am currently a certified USATF and NCHSAA coach, Group Fitness Trainer and a Speed Agility Specialist. I was also the head track and field coach at Rolesville High School. Lastly, I founded Rolesville Athletic Academy, a youth track and field club in Rolesville, NC.
Athletes who train with me are introduced to speed training and development through using proper running form as well as breathing techniques, body weight circuits and plyo's. I use resistance training, core development and flexibility to increase speed and endurance in order to achieve full potential in any running event. I also use proper running technique coaching to improve time and I use drills to prepare athletes in almost any sport to be successful.
Currently, I am focused on training a hand full of elite athletes who are willing to compete in Indoor Track & Field and train at a world class facility. The fastest i door track in the US, Alachua County Sports Complex in Celebration Pointe.
As a runner, I was a member of the North Carolina Central University first ever cross country conference champions. I also was a staff member of the back to back conference championship football team. I was the head coach for Githens conference championship football team and a two time conference championship coach for track and field. At Rolesville, we have won 2 individual GNRC championships in only 2 years of operation as a school. We have also qualified over 15 athletes in Regional's in those 2 years. I've also coached multiple athletes from other schools in the area who has seen several Personal Records since working with me. Lastly, I've seen multiple Baseball and Softball players speed increase in the last 4 months since I've extended my services to other sports.
I break down workouts into quarter segments. We spend the first quarter of our time on stretching and flexibility exercises including a dynamic warm up. The next phase we focus on proper running form and body position movements. The third phase we focus on event/sport specific skill building. The phase we focus on core building and strength development. This varies per athlete and focus level. Distance runners will spend more time on tempo runs and endurance development.

When my husband and I decided that my 11 year old needed a running coach for soccer, I had no idea where to start looking. I found CoachUp and then Coach Mike. First of all, running is his life - not a hobby. He has lived it, has a tremendous track record (pardon the pun) and has proven himself as an expert in his field. But this along does not make a good teacher. It is rare to find someone at his level of achievement that can also teach - in a way that an 11 year old boy can really understand. We had one session and Adam showed improvement in his soccer game the next day. He was able to help him run faster without more energy. The great thing is that he explained why he was asking Adam to do and how it tied back into moving faster and more efficiently on his feet. Adam felt confidence and inspired. Our kids may need to run faster at their sport. However, if you don't understand how your body and movements work together , you can "try" all you want. We were delighted to find Coach Mike. He has a natural ability to connect with kids, provide feedback, offer solutions and build confidence. I am recommending him to all of my friends in the CASL system as well as Adam's baseball, basketball and football playing parents.
