Over my 7 year basketball career, I was blessed to have been Coached by high caliber, high quality, dedicated competitive teachers
of the GAME. I have lead my team as point and shooting guard each of those 7 years, moving up to varsity team my freshmen year and also playing in my first CCS play-off game that same year. During that time, our team was ranked twice in the top 25 High School Basketball teams in the Bay Area. Our Highest ranking was 10th during my Junior Year. During Highschool I played 2 summers of Men's basketball, 1 year at San Jose City College and 1 year at West Valley College. My senior year I was invited to play in an invite only Men's Summer League Basketball at De Anza College. (Se I was drafted as point guard shooting guard and was teammate along side power forward Kurt Rambus (Santa Clara University) and Center Mark McNamara (USC), who both went on to the NBA playing for the LA Lakers. My teammates called me "Baby Magic", because of my vision of the court, ability to finish at the rim or hit the 3 pt. shoot, With my handles and eye opening passing ability I was the ultimate team player. Shortly after my basketball career ended I was introduced to Coaching youth basketball. Being a Stewart of the game, It has been an honor and a privilege to be able to play at a high level, coach youth, passing on the knowledge and skills to the next generation of basketball players,

Client Reviews

Coach Michael is absolutely amazing! My son got into school Basketball and had not really played in any professional team until then and was low on confidence. I looked up CoachUp and signed up with Coach Michael. I am so glad I did! My son has completed about 4 sessions now. He not only started with a deep understanding of my son's goals but made sure he tailored all sessions to help him the way he needed it. Coach Michael has been very flexible with changes to schedule and is on time every time. He makes sessions a lot of fun while still providing huge value. It is clear that he has in depth knowledge and experience in coaching, Basketball Techniques and skills, Basketball matches, how to keep BB Coaches impressed and more! He brings intensity into this Coaching sessions while making it fun. My son feels a lot more confident now in his school BB matches and absolutely loves the coaching sessions. Coach Michael even made it fun for my son's younger brother who just came to watch. I am impressed and touched by how much Coach Michael goes above and beyond to not only make Coaching a great experience for athletes but also for the whole family.

Coach Michael has tremendous passion and knowledge for the game of basketball. He brings intensity to his sessions which helps to motivate and reinforce learning. My son had a difficult time staying focused and engaged while practicing fundamentals in the past, which has held his game back. After a few sessions with coach Michael my son is now excited to practice the fundamentals that he has learned, and is starting to understand how important they are and how it will lead to an improvement in his game. I can’t recommend enough!

Coach Michael did an excellent job with my 4-year old Son. After my Son’s first season ever playing basketball, I figured he would benefit greatly from private coaching sessions so that he could have more fun during games instead of being frustrated with lack of skills. I chose Coach Michael initially because of the years of experience coaching young children, and he did not disappoint.

He broke down dribbling into easy, manageable drills that led up to Marcellus being more confident in his ball handling. He even gave me advice on how to coach my Son’s team since I’m volunteering to do so. The knowledge he passed on was well worth the investment. I’d recommend him as a coach to any parent who has a toddler wanting to work on their skills in basketball!

We were very impressed with Michael’s basketball knowledge and attention to detail. Right away he was able to notice shooting technique improvements just by observing. Provided great guidance for setting up a personal practice routine. He went through several practice drills to help address all of the end goals given at the beginning. Overall Michael seems to be a great personal coach for anyone wanting to improve their basketball skills! We can’t wait to learn more from him as he coaches our daughter.

Coach Michael is very patient and knowledgeable. Our son was picking up the concepts from him well and he made sure to coach for how things were going instead of just sticking to an agenda. Recommended.

Coach Michael is an exceptional coach. He is very knowledgeable and had many years of experience developing kids. I don’t know anything about basketball but listening to him explains why we do this or that helps me understand and appreciate basketball more and more. He is very patient and kind and takes his time to coach your kids. I feel no rush with him. I appreciate all the time and effort he puts in to help the my kids learn.

Thank you Coach Michael,

Coach Michael is absolutely amazing. My 7 year old has learned so much in such a short amount of time. He emphasizes fundamentals and discipline. He is patient and great with kids.My son looks forward to his sessions every week.

Hi Coach Michael, Thanks for your help today, I really appreciate the passion and knowledge that you have for the game, and I can see that your approach will certainly help to improve Ewan’s skills.
01/25/2024 To Whom It May Concern, I highly recommend Coach Michael Bueno’s classes to anyone wanting to learn basketball and improve their skills. During the winter season of 2023, I had the pleasure of attending Coach Bueno’s classes with my 8 and 12-year-old sons, and 7-year-old nephew. We all three had limited basketball training. Coach Bueno’s classes Lay a strong foundation in basketball skills. He starts with core techniques players of all levels need to know, like Great Balance, posture, and dribbling. Are tailor-made for the skill level, abilities, and personality of the student. Coach Bueno is empathetic and observant of his students. Are physically challenging. We got a great workout. Empower and encourage students to be leaders. As a result of Coach Bueno’s classes, my son’s passion for basketball has grown. He’s enjoying playing in our local youth league, and routinely asks me to spend more time playing ball with him on the court. Sincerely, Geoff H.
Starting at a young age, Coach Bueno has helped me develop skills that not only helped on the court but also off it. From learning to have the perfect balance to developing leadership skills, Coach Bueno has been a second dad to me. Making sure I was on top of my school work and creating a safe space. He believed in me when other coaches didn't. He helped me develop the confidence to speak up on and off the court and to always take my shot. Having the opportunity to be one of his players, and coach alongside him has made me a better person and has taught me that a coach that builds trust in their players can influence the way they impact society. As an adult, I now have the honor of passing on this knowledge to the children I coach and continue to apply these skills in my everyday life. Thank you so much for being a building block in my life and the lives of other players.
I have known Coach Bueno for about 10 years. He’s been an integral part of the St. Leo the Great School community, not only as a coach, but as a teammate, mentor, and friend. We have followed him from St. Leo’s, to the YMCA, and to his own private coaching. Coach Bueno has such a kind and caring heart. What stands out to me is that when I’ve watched him coach, it isn’t just about learning the skills or running plays, but I can tell he genuinely cares about the kids as humans. He makes sure they are having fun and enjoying the practices. Thank you Coach Bueno for all you do!
Coach Bueno's time teaching basketball to my daughter and her classmates has brought them closer together in addition to teaching them the fundamentals of the sport. His example of leadership, dedication, and persistent practice-makes-perfect attitude teaches the kids skills that can get applied well beyond the ball court. His level-headed approach to competition and his general positive demeanor make kids of all skill levels feel comfortable and excited to play. He is a great coach and a great example to young people.
As a kid, you go to the gym or training camps just to have fun; not realizing, certain individuals are looking out for you. Coach Bueno was and is that individual. Looking back coming from a family who wasn't able to pay for certain events, Coach Bueno looked out for me by simply assisting in that manner. Now as an adult, still the same Coach Bueno, helped my son by becoming a stronger young boy and helped me, through many one on one talks, on becoming a better father and focusing on my priorities.
We only have words of gratitude for you, Mr. Bueno. You’ve helped teach my children your wisdom, values like respect but above all self-confidence, forming an athletic character of safety and passion for basketball. My husband and I thank you for being not only a great coach but also a great guide for Indira and Oziel. Blessings to you and your family.
You have been a great coach for my daughter and her friends. You’ve taught them the fundamentals of basketball and in a way where it’s fun, and being a good teammate and showing great sportsmanship is emphasized. You’ve shown them a ton of skills that the girls can use on and off the court. Thank you for being a great coach!
Mike is a very talented basketball coach who is very good with kids. My son learned so much from him as he really teaches fundamental techniques for beginners and even advanced students.
Coach Mike Bueno is a decorated veteran of basketball. Within minutes of being taught, his love for the game spreads to you. Being able to witness his knowledge of basketball is a privilege to those taught by him. Personally, he has taught me things I would have never known before. Even outside of basketball, throughout the years I developed a "beast" inside. As a mentor, he shows you how to bring it out and control it effectively. In not just basketball, but life in general. Through and through, I have nothing but respect for Coach Mike Bueno.
Since 2009 I’ve been a student of basketball due to Coach Bueno’s love for the game. His court vision, communicative skills, and deadly accurate passes are just a few things of many that have rubbed off on me as a player. Without Coach Bueno’s guidance and knowledge, I wouldn’t be where I am at today with the coaching I now do myself so I will forever be in debt to Coach.
