More About Coach Mason
I have several years of experience training and mentoring athletes, with a strong emphasis on youth and teen athletic development. My background as a Division I football player and a state-recognized track athlete gives me firsthand knowledge of the strength, speed, and discipline required to compete at a high level. I have coached athletes in both football and track, focusing on improving their speed, agility, explosiveness, conditioning, and overall athletic performance. I’ve worked with young athletes in local training environments, school settings, and individually with families who want their children to excel in sports.
I typically work with athletes ranging from ages 6–17, helping beginners build a strong foundation and guiding more advanced athletes who are preparing for competitive seasons. While my primary qualifications come from my collegiate athletic experience, I am also actively working toward industry certifications to further enhance my coaching skill set and credibility.
My athletic background is built on high-level experience in both football and track, with a primary focus on sprinting. In track, I specialized exclusively in sprint events and consistently ranked among the Top 10 sprinters in Rhode Island, earning over 25 medals throughout my career. Competing at this level taught me proper sprint mechanics, acceleration, max-velocity development, and the discipline required to perform under pressure—all skills I now pass on to young athletes.
In football, I competed at the Division I level, where I was part of the team that won the 2024 CAA Championship, an achievement that reflects my ability to contribute in a demanding, high-intensity program. Before college, I earned First Team All division in high school as both a running back and kick returner, showcasing my speed, explosiveness, and playmaking ability. These accomplishments give me the experience and credibility to train youth athletes who want to excel in football, track, and overall speed development. . . .
A typical training session with me is structured, high-energy, and tailored to the athlete’s age, sport, and skill level. I always start with a dynamic warm-up designed to activate the hips, core, and overall body essential for both sprinting and football performance. From there, we move into speed-development work, which often includes acceleration drills, high-knees, A-skips, wall-drives, and short burst sprints focusing on proper form, foot placement, and posture.
Depending on the athlete’s needs, we transition into max-speed or agility work, such as flying 10s, change-of-direction drills, cone agility patterns, and reaction-based movements. For football players, I include position-specific footwork, cutting techniques, and ball-handling when appropriate. For sprinters, we incorporate block starts, drive-phase work, and stride-length/stride-frequency drills.
We will ALWAYS end in a cool down depending what sport/who the client will be.
