More About Coach Marcus
I have been coached by one of the best Division 3 coaches in Track & Field Ken Klatka. I have done clinics with the YMCA and other camps in the Massachusetts area. I am primarily focused with training sprinters. I am a certified fitness trainer through ISSA. Currently I work for Equinox Sports Club of Boston. I am running my own fitness website, www.gloupfitness.com dedicated to helping people globally to buy in to the fitness lifestyle, better their health, and exceed expectations and achieve their goals.
At Blue Hills Regional Tech. High School I placed 5th in the state for vocational schools. I have the 2nd fastest time in school history at 10.95 in the 100 meter dash. I went on to compete at Springfield College where I competed in the 60 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and 4 x 100 meter relay. I was coached by Ken Klatka and was fortunate due to my hard work to win the "Bearcat Award", given to an athlete of the Springfield College Track & Field program who showed the most improvement as well as one of the highest work ethics in the program. I was able to compete in the 4 x 100 meter relay in New England, All New England, and ECAC championships.
A session would typically start off with stretching and calisthenics. Depending on the athlete will determine what we will focus on. when I first train with an athlete I like to determine where they are physically in order to help them set goals for themselves throughout training together. For sprinters, I would start them off with fundamentals including block starts, staying loose while running. Depending on the athletes physical shape and what their focus is on what they'd like to improve, I will start with resistance training to develop speed, explosiveness training, and speed endurance training, especially for sprinters running the 200-400 meter dash. If an athlete chooses to workout with me multiple times during the week I would like to have them in the pool do workouts as well.
