More About Coach Madeline

For the past two years, I have independently run pole vault practices and coached at competitions for the University of Rochester. During this time, I helped four athletes achieve new personal records in the pole vault by implementing technical drill progressions and teaching sports psychology strategies to improve their mental approach to competition. My coaching style balances technical analysis with strong mentorship, ensuring student athletes can develop both in character and athletic performance.

I competed at the Division III level at the University of Rochester, where I was a three-time NCAA National Champion. I captured an individual national title in the indoor pole vault and repeated as the indoor 4x400-meter relay champion, setting the all-time Division III National Record in the process. Throughout my collegiate career, I earned 11 All-American honors across the indoor and outdoor pole vault, 400 meters, and 4x400m relays, and was recognized nationally as a USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week. My academic and athletic achievements culminated in being named a CSC First-Team Academic All-American, the USTFCCCA DIII Women's Indoor National Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and the Liberty League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, serving as the conference's official nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.

Following my collegiate career, I transitioned to the elite circuit as a semi-professional pole vaulter, training and competing on a professional development team at premier meets across the United States and Canada.

Every session begins with an event-specific warmup tailored for speed and power. We focus heavily on nervous system readiness, muscle activation, and injury prevention to ensure your body is primed to perform safely.

On Workout Days: We execute a targeted running workout designed to develop maximum top-end speed or speed endurance. Every workout is a building block within a customized, long-term plan built around your individual goals.

On Technique Days: We break down your form on the runway, in the blocks, or over the hurdles. Using specific drills, we isolate your strengths and weaknesses before integrating those corrections back into a full approach. We also utilize video analysis to break down mechanics and timing so you can clearly understand your movements.

We conclude every session with a cool-down and mobility stretching, followed by a clear take-home plan detailing exactly what to focus on before our next practice.
