More About Coach Madeleine

I bring over a decade of high-level competitive running experience and a deep understanding of training, performance, and athlete development. I am currently a Division I Track and Cross-Country athlete at the University of Arkansas, one of the top programs in the nation, where I train under elite coaches and alongside nationally ranked teammates. Throughout my high school and collegiate careers, I've truly learned from the best. In high school, I occasionally attended middle school practices to lead warm-ups and speak to young athletes about my own running journey. It was important to me to serve as a role model and help inspire the next generation of runners by sharing lessons about discipline, resilience, and goal setting as well as encouraging them to always have fun with the sport. I also volunteered for three years with a local elementary school run club, where I coached one student each year to prepare for a local 5K. The elementary run club I volunteered for was the very same one I ran for when I was in elementary school; It’s where I discovered my true love for this sport, and where I discovered a love for coaching. This experience taught me how to tailor training to younger athletes and foster confidence in beginners. I’ve also acted as a mentor and informal training resource for teammates across various teams, helping peers with injury prevention, pacing strategy, and mental preparation. I plan to pursue USATF coaching certification to formalize my knowledge and continue supporting athletes at all levels.

Throughout my competitive high school career in Florida, I earned multiple state and school-level honors. I contributed to three state championship teams—two in Cross Country (2020 and 2021) and one in Track & Field (2022). Individually, I became a three-time Florida State Champion in Track & Field, winning the 1600m in both 2023 and 2024, and the 800m in 2024. I also finished as the 1A State Runner-Up in the 5K Cross Country event in 2022. I currently hold my high school’s outdoor records in the 800m, 1500m, 1600m, and Mile, as well as indoor records in the 800m, 1K, and Mile. Presently, I compete at the NCAA Division I level for the University of Arkansas Track & Field and Cross Country teams—one of the most dominant women’s distance programs in the country and home to 52 NCAA Team National Championship titles.

Running is a high-demand sport that places significant physical and mental stress on the body. Given its intensity, it's not uncommon for athletes to fall into slumps or face setbacks due to injury. That’s why I believe strongly in prioritizing recovery, nutrition, and injury prevention as essential components of a successful training program. My coaching approach emphasizes the integration of recovery-focused practices into training through both educational sessions and dedicated recovery/injury prevention days. A typical training day will include a dynamic warm-up, and plyometric drills designed to activate key muscle groups and support long-term injury prevention. This is followed by the main workout, a cooldown, stretching, and—on certain days—mobility or core work. Training will always be personalized based on the athlete’s goals, experience level, and schedule. Most importantly, I strive to collaborate with each athlete to build a training plan they can feel confident in—and genuinely excited about.
