More About Coach Kristopher
I spent 2 years during college as a student assistant at a high school coaching football and track. After graduation, I am currently the defensive coordinator for our varsity football team. I coach wide receivers and defensive backs. After football, I assist with varsity basketball. In the spring I serve as the varsity girls head track coach. Although I coach different sports, I serve as the schools strength and conditioning coordinator. We lift multiple days a week before school, and have a very intense summer workout program.
In high school I played football, basketball, golf, and ran track. I was an all region player in football and basketball, first team all district in both. In golf, I shot a 76 at the regional tournament, placing in the top 20. Track was full of injuries, but as a junior I was able to run a 4:45 1600 meters, and 2:02 800 meter. I then went to Southeastern Oklahoma where I played a year of football after turning down an opportunity to play basketball at the same school. After quitting collegiate sports, I began playing intramurals, where I was all campus champion in football and softball at the University of North Texas.
Because I have spent time doing many different types of exercises, I have begun to cross different types of strength and conditioning training into one. As an athlete, I know how important the full body, heavy, power oriented lifts can be. I am sure to have 2-3 of those in each workout. I also like to push some of the cross fit ideas into my workouts, meaning many of the lifts are done as full body exercises, not muscle specific, and keeping the pace and heart rate high. Tabata has been very beneficial with my athletes, and we like to do about 8-12 minutes at the end of workouts using just body weight. My lifts are very sport specific, meaning I will implement workouts that fit the need. In football, its all about power and conditioning with my athletes. During basketball and track, we really focus on making the muscles longer and faster, meaning higher reps and less rest in between. There will always be a olympic style lift in each workout, and that is what we normally build the entire workout around.
