More About Coach Kelsey
I have been on the leadership team throughout college cross country and track and have done some personal coaching and strength programs for some of the girls on the team in college and with the running club. I graduated with a degree in exercise science and am currently deciding on a masters degree in sports psychology.
I have been training and competing in triathlons for a few years now. I have more of a running background, but am also familiar with cycling and running plans based off what I have trained for. I competed in college cross country and track and was an All-American in the marathon. I mainly focus on the longer distances, but also have experience with middle distance (800-3200m). I was ranked first in my age group in 2009 in the duathlon and have partially qualified for an Olympic Development Program through USA triathlon. I am also close to the Olympic Trials Qualifying standard in the Marathon. In the summer of 2010, I worked out in Colorado Springs with Lance Armstrong's coach and the coaching staff at Carmichael Training Systems.
In the session I will go through some form technique with running and go over the goals that the person has. I find it important to personalize each plan based on the lifestyle and what they want to accomplish. Each plan will be based off what the person wants to accomplish with a focus on keeping it fun at the same time. Feedback will be required in order to make sure the person isn't being over worked or is feeling too fatigued. I will be able to go through the type of shoe a person needs, some strength ideas, a history report of injuries, etc. I can also be helpful in the areas of cycling and swimming, not just running. My main goal is to create a training plan that keeps the person enjoying the sport and gaining some experience from it as well as accomplishing short term and long term goals.
