More About Coach Keiichiro

Over 20 years working with 1000’s of individuals, from youth through adults (6 months-89 years), in both educational/learning ecosystems and competitive programs. As a coach of competitive athletes, I have been fortunate enough to see them achieve highlights that include success at respective championship arenas. Privileged to recruit, grow and scale coaches, instructors, programs and teams including: Swim School/ Academy; Community Based Programs; High School Teams; USA Swimming Teams; YMCA Swimming & Diving Teams; Men’s & Women’s Collegiate Programs (Division I, II); Triathletes; United States Masters Swimmers. I am certified in CPR/AED, TxO2, Standard First Aid, Lifeguard Training (exp 7/18), in addition to holding the TRX Certifications (Group, Sports Medicine). I have been guided by some of the best mentors and coaches in the world, and keep myself grounded as a perpetual student of the sport. My greatest lifetime contribution(s), will be to bring and share my passion and enjoyment of the water to as many individuals I can, for as long as I can.

I had the honor and privilege of swimming for, and competing with a Division I Swimming & Diving Program (UMD, College Park) in the Atlantic Coast Conference. I swam for 4 years, entering the program as a walk-on, and leaving as a leader, scoring athlete and award winning scholar-athlete.

When working with a first occassion client, I first assess goals and outcome expectations, to understand the current status, and subsequently design a cooperative plan for next steps. I am a functional based coach/educator, committed to ensuring that the baseline introduction will serve to support efforts into the future, beyond individual teaching. Sessions typically take 30-45 minutes, with a complete review of timeline progression (milestone map) and schedules at the completion of each session. Here is a typical planning session:

Discovery
> Understand where the individual is technically and foundationally
> Determine what has been done thus far
> What type of collaboration and communication is most effective moving forward to produce the ideal outcome and results

Planning
> What is the capacity for learning (time, frequency, duration) and what are the objectives to achieve
> Establishing a consistent, flexible and accountable schedule (including location)
> Identifying potential barriers

Execution
In water process: Initial Assessment > Development > Progression Reports > Learning > Outcome (usually established with a timeline) > Final Assessment and Recommendations

Client Reviews

Coach Keiichiro has given my son great direction and we can see improvement after just one lesson. He is encouraging and has helped to be more efficient and have better technique. His post lesson follow up has also been great. Highly recommend!

Keiichiro Yoshida is an excellent swim instructor and coach, but more importantly he is a trusted mentor and friend to those he interacts with. I grew up swimming under the tutelage of Mr. Yoshida, and he taught me characteristics that have formed the foundation of my personality and shaped me into the successful individual that I have become. He always examines the big picture and emphasizes the importance of our interactions, connections and teamwork. He exemplifies the values of dedications, trustworthiness and perseverance, and more significantly compassion, empathy and understanding. He is an invaluable coach and leader but I have always felt that his impact on his swimmers went beyond the pool as he helped to shape them into thriving individuals.
