More About Coach Kathleen
I have been a fitness professional for 21 years. My passion began when I started competing in powerlifting at the age of 15; followed by body building at 16; and fitness competitions until I was 32 years of age.
I went back to university at the age of 30 and completed my degree in kinesiology which lead me to become a certified strength and conditioning specialist. With this degree and certification I gained the science and knowledge needed to help individual athletes and teams, as well as individual people, reap the greatest benefit from their hard work.
As a child, I grew up on the softball field. I played ball until my second year in college. As a player, I played on several championship teams, earned player of the year in my home state; golden glove in high school and most strike outs two years in a row in my city league at age 17 and 18.
My experience as a softball player, coupled with my experience and education as a strength and conditioning coach allowed me to coach a high school softball team who went 26-0 and a birth into the state tournament. This was a very exciting time in my life. Our athletes recieved multiple accolades including but not limited to: most stolen bases; golden glove recipient; fastest fast ball recorded; fastest drop ball recorded; most home runs in a season; most runs batted in for the season.
I am well versed in running one-on-one sessions, group training, skill sessions, speed work, agility and conditioning clinics.
I currently train multiple sport athletes as well as anyone interested in improving their health and fitness. It is my passion!
As an athlete my accomplishments have been many. As a softball player I received Golden Glove award multiple years; Player of the year for my high school division and state; Most stolen bases in a season. best on base perentage in university.
As a power lifter I competed at 123 pounds and my competition, one rep max lifts were as follows: bench press, 285; Squat, 315; Deadlift, 365.
As a body builder, i won my weight class and best poser award.
As a fitness competitor, I placed in the top five in each of the shows I entered from 18-32 years of age. I went to nationals my first year competing and placed in the top 25 out of 125 girls.
As a coach, my athletes have had great success. My supercross athlete has been fast forty for the last two years. My motocross athlete has placed in the top ten in every national event that he has entered. My road racing athletes have seen increased speeds/decreased lap times and have remained injury free (less any crashes sustained during the race).
When I meet a new client, I begin with a communication questionnaire to determine which style they use and respond to as an athlete. Not all styles are created equally and if I am not on the same page with my athlete or client, the sessions may not bring the greatest success.
Next I utilize a Functional Movement Screen which allows me to understand any imbalances, muscle weakness, inflexibility, etc. Gaining this information allows me to create the most comprehensive program.
Because not all athletes are created equally, each session is catered to each individual. My sessions begin with a dynamic warm-up, followed by the focus of the session (agility, strength, power, etc.) and end with a static stretch cool-down. Each session is designed to bring out the best in each athlete or person!
