More About Coach Kara
I have five years of experience in strength and conditioning, working with athletes ranging from youth to the professional level. During this time, I have coached and interned in several collegiate performance environments, including UMass Amherst, Boston University, UMass Lowell, Merrimack College, and the University of Maine, as well as working with clients of all ages and backgrounds at Bando Performance. I currently hold my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
I played hockey throughout high school, competing at the varsity level at Austin Prep and in club hockey with the Islanders Hockey Club. During my time at Austin Prep, I was part of a team that won a Massachusetts State Championship. While playing with the Islanders Hockey Club, I competed at both the Tier I and Tier II levels, won a Massachusetts State Championship, and competed at nationals
Clients can expect a training session centered on development, skill acquisition, and overall athletic performance. My approach focuses on improving movement quality, strength, and conditioning through targeted exercises and training methods tailored to each athlete’s goals. I also place a strong emphasis on building a positive coaching relationship so athletes feel supported, motivated, and confident throughout the training process.
Sessions typically begin with mobility work, movement preparation, and a dynamic warm-up to ensure the athlete is ready to train safely and effectively. From there, sessions may include performance testing, followed by strength and power–based training. Each session concludes with conditioning and/or mobility work to support recovery and ensure a well-rounded, effective training experience.
