More About Coach Josh
I have coached 6-12th grade runners in both cross country and distance track events for the past 13 years at a private school in Donelson. I have produced multiple teams that have competed in the TSSAA DIIA State Championship meet, and have also coached the individual cross country State Champion in 2022. To this point, I've had four athletes continue their running careers at the collegiate level. I'm a career educator of 20 years, and enjoy teaching and working with young runners and adults alike. Additionally, I'm finishing my USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification this month.
I have completed over a dozen half marathons, plus dozen more 5k/10k road races. I am a career educator with over a dozen years of coaching experience in distances ranging from the 5k down to 400m.
A typical session will begin with basic warm up and drill work. Throughout this time especially, we will talk about the purpose of the day's session, and how it fits in to the bigger picture of their running goals. I am a firm believer in educating the runner as we work. I want them to become more knowledgable about what they are doing, and why they are doing it. After warm-ups, each session will include a 30-50 workout tailored to where the athlete is in their training week and cycle. The sessions end with a cool down, stretch, and debriefing time.
