More About Coach Jose

Having practical and theoretical knowledge as both a personal trainer and a Kinesiology graduate, I'm looking to assist runners achieve their goals the best I can. Some of my credentials are: BS Kinesiology; Exercise Science, Exercise Physiologist certification from ACSM, and USA Track and Field Coach Level I certification. I've coached high school cross-country and track as well as personal trained for 6 years.

Cross-country and track runner in high school; I trained on my own for a few years in college attaining a 17:30 5k and a 1:23 half but work, school and a few stress fractures derailed my running . I still kept an active lifestyle though and was able to do the rim-to-rim across the Grand Canyon in under 5 hr. I have currently started amateur road cycling racing.

Upon an initial consultation and evaluation, an individualized workout plan will be devised. From there it depends on the runner but a typical session will be comprised of speed work, hill work, or threshold work. Long days and easy days might be left to the individual while the session would include strength and conditioning work, form, and mobility. Depending on the workout I could help pace, keep splits, and/or coach.

Jose was a great running coach, helping me increase my speed on distance running. He has a deep set of exercises to work on various issues. One of the best things he shared with me was a core exercise training schedule tailored to what I'm trying to achieve. I have also adopted his warm-ups and stretches and use them every time I go running. On top of all that, Jose is a good guy who is friendly, personable and open, and he was always great with communication, meeting on time etc., even as I had to change our training times week to week to adjust to my work schedule.
