Coach Lee’s New Football Key System™
The technique system that is changing football one DB at a time.
Hello my name is Coach Joseph lee Jr. I am the inventor of Coach Lee’s New Football Key System™ (CLNFKS) (a technique used to enhance defensive play in both indoor and outdoor football) and “Father of the Modern Day Defensive Back.” My key system is taught in a patented series of rules, keys, numbers, steps, and hard techniques that alert the defense to the threats posed by the offense.
In this segment of my technique training I will focus primarily on secondary players or defensive backs (DB’s). Traditionally defensive backs are broken down into two sub-positions: Corner backs and Safeties. In my system they are only known as Defensive Backs because they are equal 100% across the board. They are brought to same level of play because of their unique run/pass key read techniques which will as a result make your secondary players work as interchangeable parts (The Chameleon Effect).
I want to break down my technique system in further depth in the upcoming pages because I think players and coaches are having a hard time understanding why the technique systems’ teaching is a unique but different twist for players to enhance their technique when they are taught in the key system. The key system is a very unique and different alert system technique for defensive backs. When a defensive backs comes to me for their first class I tell them that: “You must forget everything that you know about playing defensive back and most of the ways you have been taught to play the position.” What do I mean by this statement? I am basically telling the defensive backs to come to me naked so that their minds will be open to the unique nature of the techniques that I am teaching.
The key system is very unique due to the fact that it does not require great amounts of back pedaling, running, twisting, or other forms of physical exertion. With the key system defensive backs are no longer guessing run or pass so their footwork is also entirely different. With hard read techniques and hard fast offensive rules that the offense must abide by the defensive back no longer is at a disadvantage. What I hope to convey to readers is the fact that what I teach is truly unique, stands alone, and how it will instill maturity, calmness, discipline, and most important of all confidence in their players. My system blends in with your defensive playbook assignments so it doesn't change what you call in your defensive playbook; What it does is give your players a true (100 times out of 100) and quick run/pass key at the same time. Coach Lee’s New Football Key System really is “The Ultimate Cheat Code for Football,” and a “Virtual Genie in the Bottle for Defensive backs.
Some of what I teach NFL DB's and DB's @ all levels to enhance their DB technique 100% with in 24 hr.....
Now let me try to explain why the defensive back is no longer at the disadvantage. When teaching my system in the outdoor game I always begin by teaching the rules first followed by hard technique. When first starting out I always explain to players and coaches the jobs of the offensive linemen in football. These linemen only have two jobs to accomplish while on the football field: run block or pass block. Nothing more, nothing less. Just two jobs. Therefore the offensive linemen rules state:
“No interior linemen (Guard, Center, or Tackle) may cross over into the extended Neutral Zone and a offensive team still forwards the ball in the air.”
The key words here are “in the air.” This means that if even one interior lineman reaches or enters into the Neutral Zone the offensive team MUST run the ball otherwise they will be penalized for having an “illegal man down field.” They cannot throw or forward the ball in the air. If no interior lineman shows up then the offensive team is attempting a pass. This read provides a defensive back a true run/pass key by watching for interior (true) lineman or simply “another color,” entering the extended neutral zone. This read is quick and easy to see because the opposing team’s OL will be wearing a different colored jersey.
So how does the defensive back see this while on the field? In order for the defensive backs to receive a true run/pass key I have extended the neutral zone from the heels of the Nose Tackle (NT) to the Linebacker’s (LB) toes (from sideline to sideline). With this read the defensive backs would get a true run/pass key read at the same time at the snap of the ball or when movement occurs. In my key system there are no pre-snap reads for defensive backs because all reads are triggered upon first movement of the offense, followed by the extented neutral zone read, and the ensuing hard technique.
