More About Coach Jordan
I have extensive experience coaching and training athletes across the youth, high school, collegiate, professional, and general fitness levels. My background is primarily in strength and conditioning, athletic performance, speed and agility development, injury prevention, and overall physical preparation.
At the collegiate level, I have worked in strength and conditioning with NC State Olympic Sports, Texas State University, and the University of North Texas football program. At Texas State, I worked primarily with baseball while also serving as the lead strength and conditioning coach for women’s soccer and women’s tennis. I also completed a strength and conditioning internship with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, working with professional baseball players in the Arizona Complex League.
In the private sector, I have served as a Head Strength Coach with D1 Training and have coached at Ultimate Athlete, CrossFit, and other performance-training environments. I have also served as Director of Strength & Conditioning with PowerCross Ministries, where I worked with youth and high school athletes, including football players and athletes from multiple sports.
My experience also extends into professional sports through NASCAR, where I competed and trained as a Cup Series pit crew athlete/tire carrier with organizations including Team Penske, Wood Brothers Racing, Front Row Motorsports, and Stewart-Haas/Haas Factory Team. That experience has given me a unique perspective on developing speed, power, conditioning, coordination, and performance under pressure.
I have worked with athletes ranging from elementary and middle-school ages through high school, college, and professional athletes, as well as adults training for general fitness and athletic performance. I am comfortable modifying training based on an athlete’s age, training history, sport, goals, and level of development.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports Management from Catawba College and have completed graduate-level coursework in Recreation and Sport Management at Texas State University. I am also Sparta Science Level 1 certified and continue to pursue professional development within strength and conditioning and sports performance.
Overall, my coaching background has allowed me to work across nearly every level of athletics while developing athletes in strength, speed, power, conditioning, movement quality, and long-term athletic development.
I competed as a dual-sport collegiate athlete at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, participating in both football and baseball. Competing in two collegiate sports gave me firsthand experience with the physical and mental demands of high-level athletics, including year-round training, strength and conditioning, competition, time management, and performing within a team environment.
My collegiate athletic career was ultimately impacted by a significant ACL injury that required two surgeries. Although that changed the direction of my competitive career, it led me toward strength and conditioning and eventually opened the door to another form of professional athletics.
I later competed professionally as a NASCAR Cup Series pit crew athlete, primarily as a tire carrier. I have been associated with organizations including Team Penske, Stewart-Haas Racing/Haas Factory Team, Wood Brothers Racing, and Front Row Motorsports.
One of my most significant professional athletic accomplishments came in 2024 when I was part of the Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 pit crew for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 victory at Daytona International Speedway. The victory was especially historic because it marked the 100th NASCAR Cup Series win for Wood Brothers Racing, one of NASCAR’s oldest and most historic organizations.
My athletic background is unique because I have competed both as a traditional collegiate athlete and as a professional pit crew athlete. Those experiences have shaped my approach to coaching and performance by giving me firsthand experience with strength, speed, explosiveness, conditioning, teamwork, adversity, injury rehabilitation, and performing under pressure at high levels of competition.
A client can expect my sessions to be structured, energetic, competitive, and specific to their individual goals. My philosophy is to develop the complete athlete—not just someone who is strong in the weight room. I want athletes to become stronger, faster, more explosive, better conditioned, and more confident in their ability to move and compete.
A typical session begins with a dynamic warm-up focused on increasing body temperature, improving mobility, activating key muscle groups, and preparing the athlete for the movements we will perform that day. From there, I typically incorporate movement preparation such as sprint mechanics, skips, bounds, footwork, change-of-direction drills, reaction work, or low-level plyometrics.
The next portion depends on the athlete’s goals. For speed-focused sessions, we may work on acceleration mechanics, resisted sprints, hill sprints, maximum-velocity running, reaction drills, or competitive races. For power development, I use exercises such as jumps, throws, Olympic lifting variations, and other explosive movements. Strength sessions typically include foundational movements such as squats, hinges, presses, pulls, unilateral exercises, and accessory work selected specifically for the athlete.
I also believe conditioning should prepare athletes for the actual demands of their sport. Depending on the athlete, this could include tempo running, repeated sprint work, change-of-direction conditioning, circuits, or sport-specific work-to-rest intervals rather than simply making an athlete tired.
Throughout the session, I coach technique and explain the purpose behind what we are doing. I want athletes to understand their training instead of simply following instructions. I also adjust exercises, volume, and intensity based on the athlete’s age, experience, training history, sport, and current ability.
Most importantly, I want athletes to enjoy training and compete. I incorporate challenges, races, reaction drills, partner work, and measurable goals whenever appropriate. Athletes should leave my sessions knowing they worked hard, learned something, and took another step toward becoming a better overall athlete.
