More About Coach Joel

"My coaching journey began while I was still an athlete, and it has grown through years of training youth, high school, and college players. As a former NFL athlete, I bring firsthand knowledge of what it takes to perform at the highest level, both mentally and physically. I’ve had the privilege of coaching in diverse settings, developing athletes of all ages, and helping them maximize their potential. My passion is not only building better players, but also shaping confident leaders who carry discipline, resilience, and excellence on and off the field."

I competed at the highest levels of football, playing six years in the NFL where I was part of teams that won the AFC South three times. Before that, I was a three-time Big Ten Champion in college and earned multiple honors, including being named a two-time Defensive Player of the Year in the state of Ohio and an All-State selection at the Division II level. These accomplishments reflect years of hard work, dedication, and consistent performance against top competition at both the collegiate and professional level.

What to Expect in a Typical Session:

Warm-Up & Introduction: Light movement, discussion of goals, and evaluation of balance, coordination, and fundamentals.

Skill Assessment: Observe footwork, hand combat, body mechanics, and overall athletic movement.

Technique Development: Focus on run and pass defense techniques, introducing new drills tailored to the athlete’s strengths.

Repetition & Refinement: Build muscle memory through repeated drills; challenge athletes under fatigue for stability and endurance.

Conditioning & Functional Drills: Foot ladders, resistance bands, hand combat bags, and directional movement exercises to improve strength, speed, and game readiness.

Feedback & Recovery: Review progress, discuss next steps, and finish with cooldown or light exercises to aid recovery.

Session Focus:

Personalized approach based on the athlete’s age, skill level, and development goals.

Balance of technical skill, functional movement, and mental preparation.
