More About Coach Joe
I have 10 years of coaching experience at the middle school and high school levels. I have served as a head coach of multiple sports at the middle school level as well as assistant coach at the high school level. I have coached football over 10 years, serving in a variety of roles including offensive and defensive line coach. Throughout my coaching career, I have focused on building strong character, fostering teamwork, and helping student-athletes reach their full potential both in competition and in the classroom.
I competed at the collegiate and professional football levels, earning numerous athletic and academic honors throughout my career.
At the University of Tennessee at Martin (2006–2009), I was a member of the 2006 Ohio Valley Conference Championship team. I earned Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors in 2008. Prior to my senior season, I was named to the Preseason Consensus Draft Services All-American Team and the Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Team in 2009. I also received the Intercollegiate Athletics Scholar-Athlete Award in 2009. Following my collegiate career, I earned First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, was selected to the Associated Press FCS All-American Team and the American Football Coaches Association FCS Coaches All-America Team, and was named the University of Tennessee at Martin Bob Carroll Male Athlete of the Year.
Following college, I attended OTA's and Training Camp with the St. Louis Rams in 2010 and participated in training camp with the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League later that year. In 2012, I played with the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League and the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League before joining the Green Bay Packers organization from November 2012 through April 2013.
From 2014 to 2016, I played for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League and was a member of the 2014 Arena Football League Championship team.
In recognition of my athletic accomplishments, I was inducted into the Marion County Sports Hall of Fame in 2023 and the University of Tennessee at Martin Sports Hall of Fame in 2024.
The initial training session begins with a conversation to establish the athlete’s goals, evaluate their current skill level, discuss their position, and identify areas they would like to improve. This assessment helps create a training plan tailored to the athlete’s individual needs and long-term objectives.
No two training sessions are exactly the same. Workouts are designed based on the athlete’s age, experience level, position, and personal goals. Younger athletes may focus on developing fundamental movement skills, coordination, balance, speed mechanics, and overall athleticism. More advanced athletes may participate in position-specific drills, skill development, speed and agility training, strength and conditioning, and techniques designed to improve game performance.
Each session includes a dynamic warm-up, skill development, athletic performance training, and a cool-down period. Throughout the workout, I provide instruction, feedback, and encouragement to ensure proper technique and continued growth.
My goal is to help athletes build a strong foundation, improve their performance, increase confidence, and develop the work ethic and habits necessary for success both on and off the field.
