More About Coach JoAnna

I have coached basketball at the boys & girls club of Hayward in 2002, as well as at Davis Intermediate School during my tenure as a teacher from 2012-2014.

Additionally, as the track coach at Columbia Middle School from 2013-2015, I produced a combined 10 county champions in the 4x1, 4x4, 100m, & Long Jump during my two year tenure.

I have privately coached several long/triple jumpers jumpers and hurdlers, both whom have improved their jumps by over 2 feet and their times by seconds. As a speed specialist, I currently coach elite and premier level soccer players in speed and agility development, including athletes on the U14 National Team.

I am NFHS and USATF Level 1 Certified & currently a coach at Valley Christian High School, where I have coached 10 athletes to to Division champions in their events, and for the first time in over 15 years, sent six sprinters to CCS qualification, coached several sprinters and hurdlers to high school and community college state berths.

I specialize Elementary & Middle/High School track & field events including:

Long Jump
Triple Jump
Sprints(100-400m)

I have also worked as an NCSF certified personal trainer and nutrition consultant for 5 years, with a strong focus on supplementing track and field performance with athletic training.

I have over 10 years of track and field experience. I started track and field at the age of eight, and proceeded to run through my first year of college at Santa Clara University in 2006-2007.

I ran for 4 years at Castro Calley High School from 2002-2006 and left CVHS with the frosh soph school record in rhe 300mH as well as the shuttle hurdle relay.

In the 4x100m relay I have personally advanced to NCS finals 3 out of the 4 years of my high school career, and have participated in the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays.

We begin with a consultation to assess the needs of the athlete. From there, I discuss the training plan for the athlete.

A typical session includes a dynamic warm -up, specific to the athlete's event. This is followed by a goal setting session, where I describe the goal for the session, and allow the athlete to ask any questions about what we are implementing that day. This is followed by technique work. For a hurdler, this may be a trail leg drill or over the hurdle technique. For sprinters, it may be foot placement, arms or knees flexion drills. Next, we implement those techniques in race/meet day format. This is the workout portion. The athlete will jump, hurdle, or sprint with the technique we've reviewed, while simultaneously increasing aerobic and anaerobic capacity for that event.

Finally we follow it up with a summary and a cool-down/stretch.

If it is a weight training day, we start with an overview of the activities for the day, and discuss how these movements will enhance performance. We warm up, perform the movements, cool down, and stretch.

Joanna is awesome, great attitude when I met her! She was on time, she introduce herself to my boys which made my kids feel good about her.
