More About Coach Jeriel
I specialize in middle-distance, distance, and cross country performance training for youth and high school athletes. As a former Division I runner, I bring firsthand experience in competitive training, race preparation, and long-term athlete development. I work with athletes ranging from beginners looking to improve fitness and confidence to competitive runners aiming to make varsity, set personal records, or compete at the next level. My coaching focuses on smart progression, injury prevention, running mechanics, race strategy, and building both physical and mental confidence in the sport. I also emphasize proper recovery habits and athlete care by teaching techniques that help runners recover more effectively, stay healthy, and reduce the risk of injuries throughout training and competition.
I competed as a varsity athlete in both track & field and cross country throughout high school. My high school personal bests include 4:18 in the mile, 1:53 in the 800m, 9:13 in the 3200m, and 15:10 in the 5K. I then went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level at both the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and the University of Texas at Arlington. My collegiate personal bests include 1:51 in the 800m, 3:48 in the 1500m, and 24:47 in the 8K. Competing at both the high school and Division I collegiate levels has given me valuable experience in middle-distance, distance, and cross country training and competition.
Each session is tailored to the athlete’s goals, fitness level, and experience. Depending on the athlete, sessions may include warm-ups, mobility work, running drills, pacing development, speed endurance training, aerobic conditioning, strength exercises, and recovery guidance. I focus heavily on proper running mechanics, smart training progression, and helping athletes understand the purpose behind each workout. My goal is not only to help athletes improve their race times, but also to help them build confidence, consistency, discipline, and a stronger understanding of the sport. Whether an athlete is trying to make varsity, improve race strategy, or prepare for a new season, I create sessions that are challenging, supportive, and goal-oriented.
