More About Coach Jeremiah
I honestly got into coaching because of my own experience as a thrower. I had to figure a lot of things out for myself, which gave me a really good eye for seeing what needs to be fixed in someone's technique. I was always helping my teammates in high school and college, and I loved seeing them improve and hit new PRs.
I've also been incredibly lucky to learn directly from coaches who have trained Olympic gold medalists. Being around the best athletes in the world taught me how they train and what it really takes to succeed. Because I'm still a Division 1 athlete, I'm using the most current and effective techniques every single day. My own university coach trusts me to help coach our team, which has been a great experience.
My main focus is building athletes who are strong, safe, and have good technique that will last. A huge part of that is making sure they know how to properly and safely lift in the weight room to build a solid foundation and prevent injuries. My goal is to make durable athletes.
I usually work with high schoolers or older, but I'm definitely open to coaching middle school kids if they're motivated. While I don't have a formal certification, I can share the real-world knowledge and training I've learned from the very best in the sport. I’m excited to pass on what I know and help develop athletes into to their full potential.

A typical training session with me is focused and broken down into three main parts. Here’s a walkthrough of what you can expect:
1. Warmup and Drills
We’ll start with a dynamic warmup that I’ve specifically designed for your event, whether it's hammer, discus, or shot put. After that, I'll walk you through some banded activation work to get the right muscles firing. Then, we move into drills. This is where we either assess your current technique to see where you're at or focus on refining specific parts of your throw that we've been working on.
2. Supervised Throwing
This is our main event work. My biggest thing when we're throwing is that technique and rhythm are number one. We don't just throw with aggression; we focus on building consistent, quality repetitions. Only when your form is consistent and efficient will we begin to increase the intensity and speed. Until then, it’s all about finding a solid connection with the implement and making your body's movement as effective as possible.
3. Weight Room Session (Optional)
I usually prefer to combine throwing and lifting into one session, as the combination of the two is makes for better performance in the long run. However, I understand this can make for a long day, so we can absolutely schedule it separately based on your preference.
When we lift, we'll start with a specific warmup. I will demonstrate every lift, and the focus is on perfecting the form before any real weight is put on the bar. Our program is built on major foundational lifts and will become more complex only after you've built a proper base. The goal here is simple: to enhance what you do in the circle, make you more durable, prevent injury, and produce more power.
We’ll finish every session with a proper cool-down and stretch. Mobility is crucial in throwing; strength isn't everything. While I provide the coaching, it is your responsibility as the athlete to arrive properly fueled and hydrated to get the most out of our work.
