I'm a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Veteran and a current youth football coach committed to helping athletes excel both on and off the field. With over 25 years of experience in military leadership and athletic performance coaching, I bring a unique blend education, training, and expertise to my coaching approach.
My coaching experience spans multiple seasons at the youth tackle and flag levels, along with one season at the freshman level. Academically, I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology from American Military University and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Norwich University. Beyond football, I work as an Executive Leadership Coach, helping professionals build self-awareness, resilience, and improve mental performance. Whether on the field or in life, my goal is to help athletes maximize their potential through expert coaching, structured training, and a winning mindset.

As a young athlete, I developed a solid foundation of relentless physical preparation, drive, and discipline from outstanding coaches who also served as influential lifelong mentors. This foundation prepared me for a decorated career as a US Army Special Forces Veteran with five tours in Afghanistan. I bring an extensive athletic background with eight years of experience in football spanning youth and high school levels. I achieved all-league honors as a defensive back during my senior year in southern California, where I also competed in track and field. Beyond traditional sports, I've completed the JFK 50 Mile Ultramarathon, numerous marathons and half-marathons, road races, and extensive endurance events while in the military.
As a football coach, I specialize in developing running backs, wide receivers, and defensive backs. My approach focuses on the client's goals, physical/skill assessment, plan development, and mastery of the fundamentals with consistent re-assessment and repetitions to build skill mastery. For football players, athletes will work through dynamic warm-ups, speed and agility drills, and position-specific drills to improve their on-field skills. The approach may vary slightly depending on the athlete's goals and skill level.
In addition, consistency, dedication, and athletes' expectations are key factors in athletic skill development. Realistically, it takes a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks to see initial changes or improvements, while long-term changes may take 8 to 12 weeks. Given this, I recommend committing to multiple sessions to monitor progress effectively and to achieve your goals.

Our first session with Coach Jay was impressive. Unlike many other coaches who might rush immediately into skill training, Coach Jay began the session by asking my grandson about his goals (short and long-term), his experience on HS JV and varsity teams and then spent the bulk of the session assessing his skill and ability levels.
