I often get asked the question, "Why didn't you transfer to D1 or D2 school?" I've learned its not about where you go, its about what you do wherever you are. Make your mark. View all coaching experience

More About Coach Jayci
I have coached girls & boys high school track and field specifically focusing on both the 100 meter & 400 meter hurdles.
I have also volunteered at my former high school, Plymouth South High. I typically focus on the high school level but I am also very open to college level.
I graduated from Bridgewater State University, a Division III school, where I participated on the women's track and field team for 4 years. During my time there, I have earned many accolades. While qualifying 8 times to compete at the national level, I became a 2-time national champion for the indoor 60 meter hurdles & the outdoor 100 meter hurdles and also awarded 6-time All-American (100H & 400 hurdles) throughout my career. I was also honored to become the first women's national champion to attend & compete at Bridgewater State.
Hurdling is a lot about technique & rhythm. It is important to have a strong foundation when focusing on form & technique, before speed.
Fundamentals are key when learning to hurdle. Here is just an idea of a typical practice day, of course it depends on intensity level, fatigue, and type of workout needed.
- Proper warm up + mobility (jog, dynamic stretches, sprint drills {A-skip, B skip}
- Hurdle mobility drills (trail leg, lead leg- walk overs)
- Acceleration drills
-Sprint work/mechanics (Depends on session)
- Cool down & stretches (core)
Hurdle Drills (keep hurdles at lower height to focus on form) *really focusing on upper body posture when performing drills*
-lead leg
-trail leg
-quick 3-step drill
-block starts to 3 or 5 hurdles (focus on drive phase & staying low to attack the first hurdle)
-block starts (focusing on first 8 strides)
