More About Coach Jasynte
I run a strength and conditioning program out of Midtown Strength and Conditioning in Downtown Sacramento. I work predominately with baseball, soccer, basketball, football, track & field, and power lifting athletes. My coaching experience ranges from semi-professional/professional adult athletes to college athletes, high school, junior high, and even school aged athletes. I am a certified personal trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and hold a Youth Conditioning Specialist certification through the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA).
I am a multi-sport athlete. Through high school I excelled in track in field, where I competed in the 4x400m relay, 300 meter hurdles and 110 meter high hurdles where I was a sectional competitor in both hurdle events. My 300 meter hurdle time was a low 41 seconds. I played basketball and football as well. As a senior I was an honorable mention all league running back, and as a junior I led my league in interceptions as an all league corner. I was also named Multiple Sclerosis Senior Athlete of the year. I played a year of college ball at a local junior college. I currently race competitively as a Spartan Elite Racer (extreme endurance obstacle course racing).
A typical first session starts with a run down of the clients goals and a discussion of my philosophy and approach. I start with foot work drills on a speed ladder to identify speed and agility levels. Next I have my athletes move through the basic movements to identify range of motion, muscular imbalance, and basic strength needs. These movements are the pull, press, squat, and lift (pull-up, bench/shoulder press or push-up, front & back squat, and deadlift (based on age and development certain movements may or may not be developmentally appropriate). Lastly, endurance is assessed through sports specific needs (i.e long duration low intensity, long duration medium intensity, short duration high intensity and so on). A typical session with a repeat client is based on the findings from the initial session. Speed and agility is addressed first 80% of the time, followed by strength training. Strength training is addressed based on A) an athletes imbalances, B) basic strength and range of motion mechanics, C) sports specific requirements, and D) client goals. Typically the strength section is focused on one movement with auxiliary movements to support the primary movement (i.e squats supported by box jumps, lunges and sled pushes). Conditioning is highly varied, extremly athletic and very intense. This combination challenges an athletes athletic capacity and skill while demanding a well rounded athletic base allowing for cross over between sports. This gives athletes a range of skill, movement capacity, and conditioning that allows for increased adaptability and performance. Conditioning is primarily based on one or a combination of the following; task completion, high intensity interval training (HIIT), volume training, pyramid training, metabolic conditioning, body wieght or plyometric. Additionally my strength and conditioning program focuses on mental capacity and toughness as well as leadership. The mental and psychological side of athletics is often over looked, even though leadership and smarts is highly desired on and off the field by all coaches. Heightened mental acuity, focus, control and leadership gives that extra edge needed to stand out amongst the crowd.
