More About Coach Jared

I coached youth soccer, basketball and football at my local Boys and Girls Club for 5+ years. I coached high school and middle school football for over a year. Outside of coaching, I did strength and conditioning but focus is SAQ (speed, agility, and quickness). I work with all youth up to high school and college. I also have experience with training on the professional level. My brother is a professional athlete in the NFL, he played for the Broncos for 4 seasons and also won a Super Bowl Championship, I have trained him during the summers for the last 3 years. He also host an annual camp that focuses on youth development and training where I oversee other trainers at different stations during individual/group drills. I attended Atlanta School of Massage and completed their Personal Training Program. I also became certified as a fitness nutrition specialist and I am CPR/AED certified.

In high school, I was a four sport athlete. I excelled in football, basketball, track, and soccer. I started off playing soccer for the first 3 years of my high school career (All varsity). During that time, we held the title of Area Champs before I stopped and began focusing on football and basketball due to recruiting. I ran track all 4 years: 110 meter hurdles, high jump, triple jump, and long jump. I earned All City Honors and placed 3rd in the area (5A) in high jump. I played basketball for all 4 years (2 years varsity). I earned All City Honors and made it to the semi-finals my last two years of varsity in the play-offs. I played football for 4 years (All varsity). I was the quarterback and received MVP honors, All City Honors, All Area Honors, and All State Honorable Mention. I attended Jacksonville State University on an athletic scholarship to play football. I went on to play semi-professional football where I won a National Championship in 2010.

A proper warm-up and stretch is the first thing in my sessions no matter what. I would then take them through a series of different exercises to warm the body up. The stretch and exercise should take up to 10 minutes. I'd typically take them through a session where I would observe them through the mechanics they show performing an exercise I give them. This helps me find the perfect individualized program to fix my client's problem or meet a desired goal they want to reach. I love a great core workout. By implementing core workouts, this leads to better balance and stability, whether on the playing field or in daily activities. I target the core, sometimes right before the intense training, or right after and just before the cool down, it depends on the day. Strength and conditioning is hard work but the feeling after is always the best. I especially like to implement it into programs because it helps athletes become more coordinated, stable and strong as they advance through their athletic careers. Cardio is BIG! It has so many benefits, however, for an athlete it helps build endurance. This is one of the main reasons I input it into my program. I like to add it in at least 3 times a week with a workout and as a primary workout 2 times a week. SAQ (strength, agility, and quickness) is where I started and has always been an important part of my training and I love to tap back into with clients.
