More About Coach Jaquel

I am a certified yoga instructor by Expert Rating Inc. have an Advanced Yoga certification from Expert Rating Inc. have been teaching yoga since 2015, about a year after I started training with my teacher at Taiga Yoga in Miami, Florida. I have taught in a number of places including yoga studios, fitness centers, and park districts. I also have taught many workshops, with a specialization in Inversions and arm balances, since I have a gymnastics background. I've attended many yoga conferences put on by Yoga Journal magazine, and also have other certifications. I have a doctoral degree in Counseling from Northwestern Christian University. I have a Master's Degree in History from American Military University. I have a bachelor's degree in University Studies from Mayville State University. I have ten different associate degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Teacher Preparation, American Studies, Kinesiology, Behavioral Science, Social Science, Humanities, Philosophy, and History from various community colleges. I have a certificate in athletic coaching from Fullerton College. I have a certificate as a Certified Personal Trainer from Expert Rating Incorporated. I have a certificate in Business from College of the Siskiyous. I have a certificate in General Education from College of the Siskiyous. I received a certificate in Strength and Conditioning Training Certification. I am also a certified physical therapy aide by Expert Rating Incorporated.

I took my first yoga class at Campbellsville University in 2013 taught by Michelle Fletchall who taught yoga for 25 years. I earned an A in her course. I trained 5 days a week with Judy Williams at Taiga Yoga for 2 years-all of 2014 and 2015 in Miami, Florida. This is the studio where I connected fully with the practice and learned the most. After I moved back to Chicago, I registered for teacher training at Yogaworld and graduated in 2015 I made the commitment when i was 16 to treat my body as a person. I bought an Elastic band, and made a commitment to stretch at least twice a day.
The simple act to stretch has enormous benefits psychologically, physiological, and physical that can improve your overall well-being. I come from an athletic background. Running , dancing, gymnastics, team sports--you name it! I was fortunate to find in yoga a counterpoint to these activities, something to lengthen and stretch my otherwise tight muscles as well as cultivate peace of mind. I had been practicing yoga for more than 8 years before undertaking teacher training.

I am incredibly proud to be a graduate of Expert Rating Incorporated Advanced Yoga certification program. There is a great deal of variation amongst yoga certification programs. I chose to train at Expert Rating Incorporated because it was the most comprehensive program I could find, combining focus on alignment in the asanas with anatomy, yogic philosophy, and the chakras. In addition to completing 100 hours of formal instruction, I read 7 major yogic texts and took more than 50 hours of yoga class, including classes I observed and assisted with. I also gained experience leading meditation, chanting, and breathing exercises.

Expert Rating Incorporated Advanced Yoga certification philosophy is to cultivate the unique teacher within. My classmates and I did not learn how to teach a handful of specific sequences; we learned how to be present with our students and instruct accordingly. In the same way, my philosophy is to cultivate a unique practice with each person. My goal is to help you discover your own approach to yoga so that you can continue building your practice safely, trusting your intuition to guide you. I encourage you to start each practice anew without expectation, meeting the body in the present moment. We are often taught to extend compassion out to others, but how often are we encouraged to extend that same compassion to ourselves? Meeting the body where it's at is a good place to start.

Since graduating I have taught a variety of community and private classes, , and I have taught various elements of mantra, yoga and personal training for a full body and mind experience. I have taught beginners and advanced yogis, pregnant women and yogis working with injuries. In addition to teaching yoga and meditation.

A typical session with a new client would include a conversation about why they have come to yoga, and their goals both mentally and physically. I would go over the styles of yoga that I teach, and suggest a workout for them based on what they need most. At our first lesson, I would take them through a variety of postures to see where they are at, and then explore poses that are both accessible (easy), and well as ones that are more difficult. Cultivating a practice that includes both a Yin and Yang aspect to it, as well as a restorative angle. Inversions and back bending will most likely be included, because I believe in their power to heal and energize the body.
FAQ:
I can't touch my toes. Can I do yoga?
Yes, you absolutely can! Yoga is a practice. If you find yourself being challenged, you are in good company (they don't call them "warriors" for nothing). Together we will work on building the poses in a way that makes sense for you. The asanas or physical postures are but one of eight branches of yoga. These will be our focus, but in the traditional sense of the word simply breathing mindfully is the "yoga."

Will I get a workout?
I'm tempted to say, "Always," but in truth much of this is up to you. I teach students with a variety of goals. Getting an intense workout is very important for some, while others are primarily interested in building their focus or getting some much needed rest and relaxation. Most want a bit of each. It's worth noting that yoga poses are built on both voluntary and involuntary engagements. The more you learn about alignment, the more you will be able to activate the voluntary muscles that will bring your practice to the next level.

Where will we practice?
I bring the practice to you. Please kindly note that for locations requiring travel beyond 45 minutes and/or inaccessible by public transit, an additional fee will be assessed.

What will we do?
I design each session according to your individual needs and goals; no two are the same. My passion for all things yoga drives me to continue learning and adding to my toolbox in order to best serve you. All sessions will include elements of pranayama, asana practice, and mindfulness. Pranayama is breath work, and together with asana practice, it is the key to cultivating mindfulness. By bringing awareness of the breath to physical postures, we invite ourselves to maintain a deep and steady breath through moments of challenge and change. This "pause" before the reaction, this curious attention to the body, the breath, and the mind is at the heart of mindfulness. Whether you're trying to make a lifestyle change, go to the next level professionally or simply sleep better at night, mindfulness is an invaluable tool.

What is your cancellation policy?
Sessions must be canceled 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged the full session fee.

Great training on our first time meeting Jaquel. He is definitely a professional boxer, great experience for my 15 year old.
He showed my son really good technique and form, since my son never experienced boxing. My son was very happy with Jaquel and we will be scheduling more training.

The training is definately breath taking.
Top of the line professional trainer.

Thanks Coach, very much appreciate it.

Coach Jaquel was just what we needed. Having never had a personal coach he was great at meeting my son where he was at. He asked all these questions to prepare a tailored session for my son’s sports.

Coach Jacquel has been amazing with my son. His speed and agility have increased in just a few sessions together -- we will definitely be continuing to work with Coach Jacquel. He's always on time, extremely professional and my son has a lot of fun in his sessions. Definitely a 5-star review!

Great Session

Coach Pitts was great and exactly what my son needed … someone to push him and help him to improve his speed. My son enjoyed his first session and was very eager to schedule the next. Coach Pitts was punctual and easy to coordinate the session with. I would recommend Coach Pitts for your child’s speed and agility training.

Coach was great. He came with a great plan and worked my son out!! Super professional and patient. Overall, amazing

Great job.

Coach Jacquel is So Knowledgeable and Extremely Patience! My son left his 1st Training Full of Confidence and Could Not Wait to Reschedule with Coach Jacquel!

In terms of efficiency he doesn’t waste a minute. My 12 year old son loved the session and can’t wait for the next one. To be fair, must have highly motivated kid, but if you do your lucky, Jaquel is a diamond!

Coach was great Nathan was able to realize some things that he’s doing wrong , I would highly recommend him to some of my other kids . And my son is anxious to get the next session in.

Great session, son loved it.

Excellent Coach. Gets right to work and adds value every moment he is with our son. He is extremely positive and encouraging. My son loves training with him. Fantastic experience with him. He is very punctual, organized and responsible. Unbelievable value.

Very technical and great instruction for young QB.

My son really enjoys the time he spends with Coach Jaquel. He is super knowledgeable and patient. We are both happy we found him.

Great session he has lots of patients. My son is more confident In his self after only the first session. We will definitely be booking with coach Pitts again.

Real technical and I felt I got better in my session

Great Coach!

Coach Jaquel is reliable, motivating and easy to communicate with. He works hard to provide my son with variety and support and assesses his skill level well. Definitely going to work with him through the season.

Updated 9/20/2019: He is not NFL Alumni!! He didn’t even get playing time in a community college! I used to think he’s just not good but now obviously there’s something wrong with his characteristics!

What a liar! Do not train with him!

Doesn’t really know what he’s doing. Arrived late and postponed the session for an hour an half.

Told him what I want to work on, ignored me. Spent a long time on warm up although I told him I am already warmed since I arrived early. Took me through some drills that’s doesn’t really translate into the game. Towards the end I ask him to do some football workout he said times up. waste of my time and money, learned absolutely nothing.

Overall Jaquel isn’t really a good coach for HS kids because he doesn’t really know much. If you’re in high school I do not recommend working with him

Also bugged me for 3 days to write him a review, although I already did it on the day of our session.

Great first private session with coach Pitts. My son learned a lot, way more than from his usual team practices. We will definitely book more time with coach Pitts.

My son Joaquin just had his first football session with coach Pitts and it was a great first session. He was able to correct his football stance, his footwork, and give him pointers on proper running technique. Joaquin is already asking when his next session with coach Pitts is going to be. I highly recommend coach Pitts to anyone who is trying to give their son or daughter an edge.

First of, Coach Pitts was very professional. I’ve been around a lot of football in my 39 years. I immediately saw that he knew his stuff. I have two sons in High School who are pretty good at football so I saw how Coach Pitts knew how to tailor the training to my son’s skill set which is high level high school training to moderate college training. Secondly, Coach Pitts had a great attitude, he knew when to encourage and when to provide more emphasis so my son could focus. Lastly, Coach Pitts was very punctual with the whole session, understanding in my questions as a parent, and most of all my son enjoyed the training. I would highly recommend Coach Pitts and we will be booking future sessions with him.

He’s good

Coach Jaquel is a great coach. He is extremely patient and well knowledged on football techniques. My son is looking forward to his next session.

My son is a 9 year old soccer player that we wanted to get to focus more on his body mechanics. We found Jaquel and explained the situation and agreed to train him for track & field. The first session we arrived to the agreed location only to find out that he did not have access to the field. No worries, we found a park nearby. Unfortunately there was little to no communication with my son or us beyond the few emails/txts we exchanged. Once the session started we were impressed. I liked his style and had my son start with some very basic fundamentals which he needed. Again, after the session there was little to no communication other than "he did a good job". I was fine with this at this because my son did take away some useful pointers that he started to use immediately in games and practices. I felt a few more months of training could prove really valuable, however, scheduling was an issue. Early on we let Jaquel know that sundays would work best, and he said wouldn't be a problem. We attempted to schedule a second session and he cancelled. The following week (now week 3) we met up again and my son had a great session. We tried to schedule a 3rd session 2 additional times, 2 weeks in a row and cancelled both times. Overall I think Jaquel has great potential and very knowledgeable but needs to work on his people skill, communication and professionalism. No hard feelings, and I wish him the best.

Coach Jaquel is a magnificent coach !

Coach Jaquel is extremely patient with my son who has coordination issues and is starting from a very low level of playing. He was kind and unrushed as he worked with him and was intuitive to my sons needs.

Coach Jaquel was excellent with my boys. He made sure he listened and understood each of them so he can help them individually improve their weaknesses. They are both happy to have him trained them and we can not wait to schedule our next meeting. Thank you Coach.

First training session with Coach Jaquel was a success. My son really enjoyed his first day. My son can’t wait for the next one

Coach Jaquel was great with my son. It was the first training session. Jaquel taught some core fundamentals of the QB position. As I watched the session, I saw movements that college and pro QBs must've learned as a youth and continue to use. Thanks Jaquel - we'll be booking more trainings.

Coach Jacquel was awesome. Very mythical in his training. I know this is the guy who will take me to the next level. Can’t wait for our next session.

Coach Jaquel is a wonderful coach! He arrived early, he was very professional & stared working with my son immediately. The training looked intense & was very different from the training that my son receives at H.S.
Coach Jaquel seemed to understand how to appropriately train for specific positions in order to produce optimal ergormance.
My son was more excited after the training than before it began & he looks forward to training with Coach Jaquel again!

Coach Pitts was really good. I saw immediate improvements after an hour of training with him. I also noticed that he knew how to coach football and what to do to help my son improve and learn some techniques. My son is looking forward to his next training session.

Coach Pitts is a super positive and knowledgeable trainer who helps you improve at everything you work on with him.

Coach Jaquel is great. He gave my 14 year old son helpful tips and drills to improve his skills at wide reciever. He corrected him when he needed too and gave my son postive encouragement. My son said " I learned how to become an overall great player." My son enjoyed his session with Coach Jaquel and I look foward to continuing my sons training with Coach Jaquel.

Jaquel is all around a great man and coach! He's been working with my 12 yr old son for a while to hone both his qb and wide receiving skills. Jaquel is so positive and encourages my son in so many ways! He's a terrific role model for him, too. I highly recommend Jaquel for coaching any position
Your child plays or wants to play.

Coach Pitts is an excellent coach. He pays a very significant amount to attention to detail coupled with an elite level of experience he can speak to. Coach Pitts is extremely organized with his drills, while custom tailoring sessions depending on what I need to work on. His passion and encouragement coupled with his experience and perfectionist mindset makes him a coach that will elevate your game to a another level. I highly recommend.
